Scammers can drain your bank quite easily if you don’t know about every trick they use.

Received several calls from them over the past week, and each time I answered, they claimed to be from a mortgage company, trying to get info about a property. When I asked who exactly they were, the lady said she worked for a firm connected to the bank and kept pushing for details about a house I’ve already moved out of. I kept answering her questions with the same replies till she got annoyed and ended the call. Definitely a sketchy scam, watch out for them!

I keep getting text messages from this number saying I missed a call, but there’s no record of any missed calls on my phone. This has happened a few times now, all in the afternoons on the 25th, 26th and 31st of January. Really strange.

Got a call about some advice for my mortgage, but here’s the thing - I don’t have one, it’s fully paid off. The first call, they claimed to be from HSBC which made me super wary, so I called them out on it. Then they rang again a month later. Totally forgot about the first one. This time, it was a young lady who sounded really sharp and genuine. If I had a mortgage, I might have been convinced, but thankfully, I’m mortgage free.

Trust me, there are loads of dodgy people around. I got scammed a few months back and it was awful, totally shook me. After that, you just can’t trust anyone like before. Cheers everyone - just block those pesky calls and send them straight to voicemail or hang up - you’ll see it gets less irritating. Phone companies really need to sort out all the old landlines and exchanges and that sort of thing. Until that happens, dodgy folks will keep getting what they want! Also, we really need better laws. Just don’t pick up unless you know who it is or are expecting a call - and make a note of the number they’re ringing from. Don’t reckon cyber crime squads can handle everyting honestly!
