Some bloke rang me up saying my insulation's full of mould and needs replacing ASAP, but it sounded like a total rip-off to me.

I get loads of calls from unknown numbers, even tho I signed up to the TPS. Just now, this number rung my home phone and the moment it started going to answerphone they just cut off. I’m in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, if that helps.

I was told the insulation in my attic might be causing moisture problems. They offered a free inspection or so they claimed. Honestly, I wouldn’t trust them as far as I could throw ‘em. Feels like they prey on people who already have good loft insulation, turning up uninvited, fiddling about, then telling you it’s been done wrong and needs replacing - all at your expense for stuff you don’t really need. I reckon it’s worth flagging them to your local MP, council, or even the police as harassment.

Got a call from someone saying they were from an energy company checking out my area. There was a lot of background noise which made it hard to hear. He asked if I owned the house, but I told him I rent it. After that, he just ended the call right away without saying anything else.

Got a call from some insulation con artists saying I’ve had bad insulation put in recently, which is totally not true. When I tried to question them, they just talked over me. Pretty dodgy behaviour.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Cris out of SE London, asking if I owned the property. Told him the place’s got a bit of condensation. Sounded like he was just reading off a script, and he quickly ended the call once he realised I wasn't going to bite.

Got another call about insulation scams again. Honestly, was a perfect chance to let out some swears without worrying!

This bloke kept giving his name as Matthew and said he was with the government insulation advisory service. Claimed he was from Oxfordshire, but the number he called from, 01332, is definitely a Derby area code. He told me the insulation in my loft could be causing mould and damp and insisted on coming over to have a look. Feels dodgy to me, probably just a scam.
