Someone called me on my phone, I couldn’t pick up but looked them up here. No clue who they are or anyone from Derby with that number. I never pick up calls from unknown numbers. From what others have said, sounds like they’re trying to scam people for info. I’d just block it.

Glad I didn't answer, but thought I'd look it up before calling back. I’m from just outside Birmingham, not Derby, so it’s odd they’d be trying to reach me. Like someone mentioned before, I’d really want to know how they got my info in the first place. With GDPR now, you'd assume random calls like these would be banned? It feels like selling people's contact details should be totally illegal!

This number called me out of the blue, and when I asked where they got my details since I’m not on any lists, the woman on the phone claimed it was from some UK database. I told her that’s nonsense and started to ask her to take me off their list because I don’t do unsolicited calls, but she just hung up on me. I tried ringing back but no one picked up. Watch out, folks, this reeks of a scam!

For the last few weeks, this number kept calling me loads, and I just ignored it since I didn’t know it. But today I picked up. A woman asked for me by name, so I said "who’s calling please?" but she didn’t say anything else and just hung up! I never share any personal info with unknown callers, and I'd tell anyone to be careful with calls like this.

I picked up the phone and a lady asked for me by name. I asked her who she was, and she said the call was for Mrs W. When I asked where she was calling from, she got a bit annoyed because I wouldn't say who I was until she explained the reason for the call. I got a call from this number around midday on Saturday 7th April. Normally I ignore cold calls, but this guy sounded pretty convincing, claiming he was a local tradesman. He said he’d been down my street doing work for some of my neighbours. As the chat went on, I started to suspect it was a scam. He mentioned he’d ring back on Monday with more details, but I had a feeling he wouldn’t bother. He was trying to sell alarms for ninety nine pounds.

Had a similar experience the other day. Got a cold call from a bloke claiming to be from Manguard Security, trying to sell me an alarm system for £99 (with some dodgy maintenance fees, apparently) saying they’d checked my area and noticed I don’t have one installed (which is totally untrue). I told him straight up I don’t share personal info since I work from home for the government and all my calls are recorded. Strange enough, I then heard a weird, panicked noise on the line before he hung up abruptly. Makes me think they don’t want anyone “official” catching on to their scam.

Just like mentioned up there. He said he’d been around the whole street and everyone told him nobody answers when the alarms go off. That’s not right at all. He even said he knew I had an alarm but my provider wouldn’t react if it went off. Got pretty rude when I said no to him coming over. Not a nice bloke and how he acted made me not want to deal with that company, even if I didn’t already have my own security set up.

Some bloke called about an alarm system that works through the phone line with no outside bell. He wanted to pop by today but I said I’d be out. Then he started saying if the alarm sounded the neighbours might just ignore it or be out themselves. Got me a bit on edge, felt like he was seeing if the house would be empty or summat. Been getting calls loads of times from this number. Usually it's just dead silence or straight to voicemail, but they don't leave any message. I'm on the TPS list but it clearly doesn't stop them. Some bloke called my missus, knew her name and said he was from So and So Electrical Security. He claimed he was working on our street and wanted to talk about security stuff. But the moment I asked her to hand me the phone, the caller just ended the call. Strange behaviour, if you ask me.

Got a call from a woman today who confidently used my surname. She told me the Police don’t respond to burglar alarms anymore and tried to sell me their phone-based silent alert system for break-ins or medical emergencies, saying they’d handle the right response. When I said I’d check online first, she got rude - like, “we’re not online, so why would you do that!” I ended the call politely. We’re alright, but I’m mad they might ring people like my mum who could be worried enough to go along with it.

I got a call from a bloke who seemed to know my full name and where I live. He was trying to sell alarms and said he’d be in the area visiting my neighbours the next day, so wanted to pop round and have a chat. When I told him tomorrow wasn't convenient, he snapped at me and told me not to waste his time. Honestly, I’d stay clear of this guy.

I told the caller my number is registered with the Telephone Preference Service and that it’s illegal for her to be calling me. She tried to say I probably hadn’t renewed my registration in the past year and that it has to be done annually. I told her to take my number off her marketing list and that I’ll handle any more calls myself. She insisted my number was allowed on her list, but I double-checked with TPS and she was lying - my number is definitely blocked. I’m going to report her to the TPS right away.

Today my phone kept ringing from a Derby number, and it was registered with TPS. I didn’t pick up straight away because I wanted to check who it was first, which I’ve just done here on this site. Normally I’d just block this sort of call but after seeing they're an alarm company, I’m thinking if they ring again I’ll tell them my house is fully protected and that I’ve got 3 Rottweilers too. It’s a bit worrying that if they know you haven’t got an alarm and have your address, it could make you a target for burglars. Next time they call I’ll also try to get their name and where they’re calling from.

At around 3 this afternoon I got a call from a woman trying to sell security alarms. I asked her how she had my number, since it's for my business, and she apologised, saying she’d got it from a list - she even knew my postcode. She told me they were contacting people in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, to offer their alarms. Even after apologising, she still asked if I was interested. I said I already have an alarm system, and she asked what kind it was. She went on about how quickly their alarms respond once triggered. I just said no thank you and ended the call.

some bloke named “ryan mangard” phoned my old aunty, saying he was from elec security and sorted out a meeting with her. since then, she’s been getting loads more calls from random numbers she didn’t ask for.

they rang me this morning said they were nearby doing some work with cavity wall insulating, even knew my name and where I live. I said I dont deal with stuff on the phone or doorsteps and just hung up on them.

they called both our phones, my hubby got his call first but he’d left it in the house so then they rang mine, claiming to do a deal on monitored alarms, i said we’re on the tps list and she said sorry and hung up, just wonderin where they even find these numbers from?

Got a call with someone asking for me by name. Told them I was working from home and couldn’t really talk, so I asked what it was regarding. The lady said something about a nationwide electrical service scheme nearby - when I queried if it was nationwide or just local, she just cut me off. Lovely to be interrupted during work, be polite, and then have the phone just ended like that.

They actually knew my full name and postcode. The person claimed they were doing a survey about ‘monitored’ home alarms. They wanted info about my alarm system but i didn’t give them anything. I told them I’d verify with the police who they were and then hung up. To me, this caller seemed quite risky.
