Got an automated call claiming to be the fraud department warning me about suspicious activity on my account, but they never said which bank it was. I was straight away pretty sure it was a scam since my actual bank never rings from that number. I pressed 2 to supposedly stop it, and then got connected to a really awful line with someone who obviously wasn’t based in the UK. I ended the call and tried ringing the number back - unsurprisingly, it turned out not to be a real one at all!

I received a rather dodgy automated call, claiming to be from a fraud department, warning me of some 'suspicious activity' linked to my account. Strangely, they didn’t specify which bank they were supposedly representing. My instincts kicked in immediately; I knew it had to be a scam, as I highly doubt my bank would ever reach out from such a number. Out of curiosity, I pressed 2 to "cancel," and was met with an extremely poor connection to what was clearly a foreign call centre. It felt off, so I promptly hung up. When I attempted to ring the number back, to my astonishment, it turned out to be non-existent! What a surprise!
