I got a call from 01324 416015, and the woman on the other end kept asking questions that needed a yes or no reply. I didn’t just give those answers though. She also wanted to know if I had life insurance and who it was with. Out of the blue, she started asking what sort of washing machine I have. When I said I wasn’t sure, she asked me to choose from some options. I told her the info was incorrect and I wasn’t willing to go along with it. She kept pushing, so I told her I’m a police officer and I wouldn’t lie. After that, she just said have a nice day and hung up.

Got a call about some dodgy charges on my credit card this morning. The line was really rubbish and I couldn't understand the automated bit. When I finally got through to a person who sounded like they were abroad, even though the number showed up as local, they claimed to be Visa. I received a rather pushy phone call from someone purporting to represent Loft Survey Scotland. They were promoting a complimentary loft assessment under the guise of health and safety checks. When I declined to disclose whether I owned my home, the caller insisted she would have to escalate my case to "health and safety."
