Got a call from someone with a strong foreign accent claiming to be from BT. Felt off from the start. She insisted my internet was at risk and offered to fix it if I fiddled with my router. I called her out as a scammer and ended the call straight away. A couple of days before, I’d had a similar call from an 01494 number, so it’s clear these fraudsters are spoofing area codes to trick people into thinking the call’s legit when you check the caller ID.
