WATCH OUT! I've had a run-in with this con artist who claimed I'd signed up for a competition to win a free Sony PlayStation 5, which was absolutely false! I wouldn’t touch these sorts of competitions with a bargepole!

Seemingly, I’ve been signed up for some prize draw (which I definitely haven’t) and now I’m supposedly in the running for another draw with a chance to win a Ring doorbell and a campervan worth £75,000. All they want is for me to get a free, no strings quote from Scottish Power, a firm I’ve dealt with before and wouldn’t choose even if they were the only one left on the planet. The bloke was really condescending and kept repeating himself.

Got a call from a bloke with a Scottish accent who said he was from some company called "WinMeForFree." He claimed I'd signed up for a free PS5 competition before, which I definitely didn’t, and then started trying to get me to join more contests for a free Ring and heating system. I told him I hadn’t entered anything and wasn’t interested, and he sounded pretty annoyed. Ended the call and put him on block.

I got a call from someone saying they were from a giveaway firm called "Winmeforfree" out of Glasgow, but they rung me in London and said they were linked to Scottish Power. They said they were waiting for a call from an Andrew Perry but ended up with the wrong number. They’ve even got a proper website set up just to trick folks into handing over their info. Definitely don’t get caught up in this clever, ever-changing scam.

01316205731 called me saying I’d won a camper van prize, worth £21,000, if I changed my energy provider. While chatting, I looked up the number and found it was likely an energy scam from Edinburgh. Even after I said no and told them I knew it was a scam, they kept pushing me to switch. They even had my name, which was really cheeky.

I've come across this number a couple of times, it's one of those energy scams from Edinburgh. They somehow get hold of your unlisted number via a firm called Switchcraft and pretend to be British Gas. When it happened to me, I reported everything in writing to Sherwood Lodge police station. This needs to be flagged up again, the number's definitely from Edinburgh.

Received three calls within two days, all from the same number! Each time, they left an answerphone message insisting there's nothing to fret about, suggesting they want to discuss the perks of changing energy suppliers but promising to ring back another time. It's quite vexing, really, as I've been knee-deep in my studies during their calls, and every interruption is a right nuisance! When I've managed to pick up from other callers and mentioned being a student, they usually just say, "No problem, we'll take you off the list," and hang up! It’s rather amusing, and I reckon it's a handy little tactic to keep in my back pocket for the future!
