Been bombarded with these annoying calls, this one was just one of about five I got in the past day. Totally sounds like a call centre messing about. Told them straight where to shove it and ended the call. Another number now sitting happily on my blocked list.

Got a call from some bloke named Michael Paul, sounded Indian, and he ended up giving me the exact same number like the others mentioned here. He even started reading out an address. Not falling for this nonsense again! Didn't share any details, had a look at my computer afterwards - antivirus all good and nothing suspicious found.

Today my landline rang and I just ended the call straight away. They rang back and kept claiming they were calling from the Microsoft offices in Reading. I decided to check the number (01316183119) by dialling it from my mobile, and when it picked up, the person on the other end also said they were with Microsoft in Reading. But here's the odd bit - 0131 is actually an Edinburgh number, and on my caller ID it showed as an international call. Seems like a pretty slick scam attempt to me.

These con artists try to scare folks by throwing out your name and postcode, warning they'll "lock" your computer unless you follow their demands. But don’t buy into it. That info isn't hard to find and doesn’t mean anything even if they were genuine. It’s just a common trick in social engineering where they drop small bits of info, usually useless, to make themselves seem legit and either get more details from you or, like this time, freak you out enough to do what they want.

I've been getting calls from this number and they're pretending to be from Microsoft, but it's definitely a scam. Don't believe them, just end the call straight away. I've already informed the real Microsoft about it.

I had a call from someone called Michael James as well. I ended up cutting off my internet and kept them hanging for a while just to see what was gonna happen. When they asked about the [#]help93{###) thing, I told them my router was busted and I didn’t have any broadband at the moment. Pretty sure they might ring me again sometime.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Microsoft saying my IP was being used by gamers and that I’d been hacked. I really don’t think the genuine Microsoft would ring me up out of the blue like that. Definitely feels like a scam to me.
