Definitely a scam! Got a voicemail claiming they were from HMRC, threatening legal action if I or my lawyer didn’t get back to them. Didn’t hang about - just blocked the caller straight away.

Got a call from what they said was an HMRC agent, but the funny thing was, the voice was female while the name they used was clearly a bloke’s. It was some sort of automated message, sounded a bit dodgy to me.

Honestly, don’t pick up or return the call. I freaked out and called back, only to get some guy with a thick Pakistani accent saying I owed more than £3,000 in tax and that I had to get my solicitor involved right away. Took me a minute to see it was rubbish, so I told him straight up. Of course, he just hung up. Can’t imagine how anyone feels okay scamming folks like this - it’s just horrible!

I got a really dodgy call claiming to be from HMRC, but it quickly turned creepy and threatening. Towards the end, they said something along the lines of "If you or your lawyer don’t get in touch, there will be serious consequences." No way would HMRC talk like that in a voicemail. Don’t ring that number back! If you’re concerned, just find the official HMRC contact details on the government website and call them directly.
