I just got a voicemail warning me that if I don’t ring them back, they’ll be taking legal action against me.

Scam alert: got a strange voicemail with a weird American accent claiming to be from HMRC. Honestly, if HMRC needs to contact you, they would send a letter, not some dodgy auto-call like that. Pretty sketchy if you ask me.
