Somebody called me claiming to be from my phone company, offering a 45% discount on call charges for the whole next year. They asked me to confirm my email address just to be sure they were speaking to the right person. I didn’t give them my real email, made up something that sounded plausible, and held the convo for a good couple of minutes. Then a woman passed me over to her manager, a bloke with a thick Indian accent, who just repeated the same spiel. I told him the number they’d dialled is actually a UK government ghost number set up to catch scammers like them and that their call was being double-checked by the authorities. After that, he cut the call. Just a heads-up, don’t fall for it and have fun stringing them along. There are loads of people on YouTube who track scammers like this down and expose them.

On 08/12/2023, I got a call that showed up as spam on my phone. A man speaking with an African accent said he was ringing from my phone company. When I asked who I was with, he nailed it by saying 02. But when I kept asking him to confirm my name as a security check, he refused to say it. After that, I ended the call.

They sounded dead on like O2, offering me a 5G upgrade along with a discount each month. While we were talking, they even sent a super real looking email with a link that supposedly came straight from O2 to sort the upgrade. To top it off, I got a one-time code that looked like it came from O2 as well, but I didn’t hand it over. They kept pushing me to give the code, saying it was so they could do the upgrade for me then and there instead of me having to do it online. I’ve tried reaching O2 about this but they’re not picking up, and at one point the caller hung up on me. Honestly, these scammers are way too convincing. No clue how they’re managing to get stuff out via the O2 network itself! Watch out for them.

This was a total scam. A guy with an Indian accent rang up saying he could get a 40% off deal on O2. When I questioned him, he got really pushy. Worse still, he tricked my father-in-law into giving his info and ended up hacking into a few of his email accounts, changing the passwords. Beware!
