"Got an unexpected call from someone claiming to be with my phone provider, offering a whopping 45% discount on my call charges for the next year. Then they asked me to 'confirm' my email address to verify my identity. My advice? Don’t reveal your real email. Just conjure up a plausible-sounding one and see how they fumble through the confirmation! I dragged the conversation out for a couple of minutes before they transferred me to their supposed manager, who had a thick Indian accent, just like the girl. He simply echoed her pitch! I took the opportunity to inform him that he had called a ghost number associated with the UK government, designed to catch out scammers like him trying to con UK residents. I mentioned that the authorities are currently 'double tracing' this call, and wouldn’t you know it, he hung up promptly. Have a bit of fun with these callers, and for goodness’ sake, don’t fall for their tricks! There are even folks on YouTube who actively track down scammers like these with impressive success."

08/12/2023. I received a call from a number that showed up as potential spam. When I picked it up, a chap with a distinct African accent claimed he was ringing from my mobile network provider. He accurately identified my provider as 02 when I pressed him for details. However, despite my repeated requests, he refused to disclose my name, insisting that I needed to provide it first as part of a security verification. This raised all sorts of red flags for me, so I decided to end the call.

I had a rather unsettling experience that felt all too plausible, as someone claiming to be from O2 was trying to lure me into upgrading to 5G, complete with a supposed monthly discount. To up the ante, they even forwarded a rather convincing email that appeared to be from O2, providing a link for the upgrade while we were chatting on the phone. To add to the ruse, they sent me a one-time code that seemed to come from O2, but when they pressed me for the code, I stood firm and refused to give it out. They kept insisting that they needed it for a "live" upgrade rather than having me go through the online process myself. I’ve tried to report this to O2, yet they're not responding, and they've hung up on me once already. Just a word of caution - these fraudsters are incredibly persuasive. It’s alarming to think they might be managing to exploit the O2 system in some way!

Scam alert! I received a call from someone with an Indian accent who was pushing an unbelievable 40% discount on O2. They became quite confrontational when I questioned their legitimacy. Alarmingly, they managed to get my father-in-law's personal information and ended up altering his passwords across several email accounts.
