Someone rang me saying they were from my internet company and that my connection was unsafe because it was public, so I needed to make it private. I was expecting a call from them anyway so it caught me off guard and I got a bit stressed. They were really pushy and sounded legit at first, but I got suspicious when they told me to look at my emails, then check my online shopping and finally my bank account. That’s when I told them off and hung up.

Got a call from someone claiming to be BT, saying there were some security alerts from my broadband. They told me my IP address switched from private to public or something like that. I said I’m aware of how to fix it myself and would check it out. Then the bloke mentioned needing a server to sort it and just dropped the call.

It claims to be from HMRC, yet I have my doubts and suspect it might be a con.

Apparently, it was supposedly the HMRC reaching out regarding a letter they had sent back to me. They were quite pushy, hinting at some legal repercussions if I didn't hit 1. I've since added the number to my block list!
