A man with a strong foreign accent and really poor English called saying he was from some government agency about energy conservation. He kept pushing me to answer some questions, but I told him I’d only do that if he explained what it was all about. He couldn’t actually say much about the products, just vague stuff about saving energy. I got the feeling it was a total scam, so I told him to leave me alone and hung up. Definitely fishing for info. They seem to get annoyed when you start asking questions, probably because it’s not in their script.

I got a call about home insulation, and the person actually got my last name and postcode right. They claimed I’d put in a request for insulation, which I definitely hadn’t, and even told me I was a homeowner, which isn’t true because I’m renting. I just ended the call and blocked the number straight away.

I think this was one of those insulation scams. The caller claimed to be phoning from the Philippines, supposedly speaking for a client, but wouldn’t say who exactly. Early in the conversation, they dropped the name Lead Locker. After a while, they seemed to lose interest and just ended the call.
