I received a rather pleasant phone call from a chap with a refined accent, quite a refreshing change from the usual heavy accents one often hears! He claimed to be from Driveway Centre and kicked off the chat as though it were a callback regarding our driveway. However, I promptly interjected to clarify that we don’t actually have a driveway. He graciously apologised and swiftly ended the call. It was such a departure from the run-of-the-mill scam calls, as he really did sound quite sincere and distinctly English. Upon investigating the number, I found out it belonged to a firm of that name based in Suffolk, miles away from Doncaster-where the call came from-and I’m located in Kent. Quite an impractical distance for driveway work, wouldn't you say?

Got a call from some bloke named John claiming to be from the driveway centre. I told him I’d read online that they’re dodgy and not to bother people. He didn’t like that and just ended the call. Proper shady behaviour if you ask me.

Earlier today, I received a call from a chap named John. Initially, he inquired about my driveway, which didn’t raise any red flags for me, so I responded to his queries. However, it quickly devolved into him probing into very personal matters, and I deemed his questions rather invasive. Ultimately, I decided to cut the conversation short and ended the call. I can’t shake the feeling that this bloke might be up to no good.

I got a call from a number almost the same as one I got yesterday. Today, the caller was asking if we've got a driveway, but my missus just hung up.

So this bloke rang me up, asking if I still had a driveway - didn’t even know those could vanish! I said sure, and mentioned it went right up to my mansion. He kept going with the details, so I threw in that mine led straight to the swimming pool at the back garden (makes the car cleaning a doddle, no garage needed). I reckon he caught on I was taking the mick. After that, he just said thanks and hung up. Got me thinking why he bailed so quick?

Didn’t pick up since the area code was totally unfamiliar. Given the scam history tied to that number, I just blocked it. It’s so frustrating how they manage to get hold of ex-directory numbers. We once applied for planning permission back in 2019 for an extension, and it seems like the council keeps passing out our number to various contractors, many of whom seem dodgy. This really needs to stop, especially since we never even got the permission approved.
