They insisted I needed to renew my Prime membership, stating it would cost £40.00 starting at the end of the month, a stark contrast to the current rate of £7.99 per month. When I asked to cancel my Prime membership, she launched into a rapid-fire explanation that was mostly lost on me, apart from her requests for further details. I simply reiterated my desire to cancel Prime and hung up. A cautionary note on the Amazon account page clearly states that any membership alterations must be conducted through their official website, not over the phone.
