Received a dodgy call regarding my national insurance number! Definitely recommend blocking this one!

On 14/12/21, I noticed a missed call from this number on a mobile I don’t really use anymore but do check every now and then. Judging by the other reviews, it seems like it’s linked to some N.I fraud. I reckon it’s a scam since I’ve already given my updated number to work and pensions and have been getting calls from the official people there.

Anyone who’s not too clued up or perhaps vulnerable would find NI fraud really distressing. It could be such a traumatic experience for someone like that, honestly.

I got a call from a number showing as +44 1298 709741 on my phone. A recorded voice told me they were looking into some national insurance fraud, saying they believed my national insurance number might have been misused. They asked me to press 1 for more info. I didn’t trust it though, so I just ended the call and blocked the number straight away.
