I received a communication suggesting that my National Insurance Number may have been compromised. They requested my personal information to confirm my identity and establish that my NI number remains legitimate.

Just ignore it, block the number and report it straight away. They claimed to be from the national crime agency, said my national insurance had been involved in dodgy stuff, and warned they'd take my assets and arrest me unless I pressed 1 to talk to an 'officer'. Total scam.
