001296584892 Some bloke rang me claiming to be from SKY sayin I had money owed from over 15 years ago. They had loads of info on me, so I said to send a letter. Then a woman, said she was a "supervisor", came on and claimed SKY never sends letters. I told them I’d ring SKY myself, which I did after hanging up. They were after my bank details and all. I spoke to SKY and they’ve now reported it to their complaints team. They also told me to get in touch with Action Fraud.

Just like the rest, they said I'd get a new router in a few days and a £200 refund for being a loyal BT customer. Had about 3 more calls after that, but I told them I didn't trust who they claimed to be. Haven't had any contact since then.

I received a couple of calls earlier today. One displayed this number, while the other appeared as ‘unavailable’ but had a similar spiel. I simply told them to shove off and ended the call. I suspect this is a dodgy operation where if you ring back, you could end up racking up charges!

Got two calls from this number today. When I answered the second call, the guy on the line, who sounded Asian, said he was ringing from British Telecom. I told him I’m not currently with BT. Then he asked which telecom company I use. I just ended the call.

Received a rather peculiar phone call this morning from a gentleman of Asian descent, purporting to represent BT and discussing an alleged issue with my router. After a brief chat which left me sceptical, I decided to terminate the call. To my surprise, a few hours later, the same number rang again. This time, rather bizarrely, there was no dialogue at all; he simply serenaded me down the line! It’s truly become quite the pestilence this caller from that number.

6 August - Just had a rather peculiar conversation with a woman named Margret who claimed to be from Telecom. I mentioned that I had no clue who she was, nor was I in any kind of agreement with Telecom. So, I asked, why on earth are you dialling random numbers? "Oh, you know me well!" she insisted. I promptly replied, "No, I don't recall you at all. What's the reason for ringing strangers on a Saturday afternoon?" She quipped back, “You don’t remember because you’re daft!” To which I shot back, “Alright, if I’m daft, why on earth are you bothering to call daft people? Surely you’d prefer to engage with the clever lot!” She then retorted, “I’m here to speak to you, just listen up!" I reminded her, "But if I'm daft, what's the point in explaining things to me? You know daft people seldom grasp the message!"<br/> SLAM!

This morning I received a phone call from an Asian gentleman claiming to be with British Telecom. He insisted that he was ringing because they had been inundated with reports regarding issues with my phone line and then inquired whether I was at my computer. I promptly informed him that he wasn't a genuine BT engineer, to which he queried my assertion. I explained that if he were indeed from BT, he wouldn't be using this number. Following the conversation, I contacted BT to report the incident and provided them with the number. They assured me that they would never reach out to me unless I had made contact first. While I’m hopeful they take some action, I must admit I'm not overly optimistic about it.

Another dodgy number again: I've called BT before to report numbers like this so they can look into it or ban them. But seeing how many calls are shown here and thinking there’s loads more that aren’t even recorded, I’m starting to think BT doesn’t mind these calls going on - probably makes them a bit of cash from it.

Got a call today from an Asian woman claiming my husband’s router and PC had been sending error alerts for the past two weeks! Which is laughable since our internet was only just set up this morning and we hadn’t even had a router, landline or PC connected for a couple months! Anyway, they kept changing their story, asking my husband to switch on his PC and give them remote access to “sort out” the problems hahaha! Well, my husband found it hilarious and played along, winding up the caller until he got fed up and then casually dropped a few truths before they hung up.

This afternoon, I received a phone call from a woman with a Subcontinent accent who claimed to be representing BT regarding my router. There was a moment of silence on her end, so I encouraged her to proceed. Instead, she misinterpreted my words and responded with, "So you want me to carry on with you?" I attempted to clarify the situation, but she quickly descended into a barrage of aggressive and crude insults. I'm fairly certain this was an immature reaction to my earlier request to the previous caller from this scam to cease contacting me.

Some bloke with an Asian accent called me, claiming to be from British Telecom and said there was an issue with my router, that it had errors or something. He wanted to remotely access my PC to 'fix' it. I told him everything was fine on my end and that I was sure he wasn’t really with BT. I then asked for the company’s real name. He mumbled something so quietly I could barely hear it. I asked him to say it again, but it was still faint, and all I caught was the word "sky" before he just hung up.

I received a call earlier today from someone claiming to be from BT. They inquired about my wellbeing, to which I responded that I was fine and asked what they wanted. It’s infuriating to endure these persistent calls with people insisting I own a BT router when I clearly do not. This particular encounter was the most impolite one to date. I believed registering with the Telephone Preference Service would shield me from such nuisances, but apparently, that’s not the case!

Terrible call about my computer needing repairs! They said they were from BT, but I laughed that off. Got in touch with BT and they were no help at all. How do they even have my number? Even weirder, it’s a number based in Aylesbury. Shouldn’t this be looked into by someone??

I had an unpleasant encounter with an Asian chap who was clearly trying to pull a fast one regarding my router. When I firmly asked him to take my number off his list, he responded with a rather rude comment about my speech. Unbelievable!

I received two calls on my BT home phone today from this number! I thought my number was supposed to be unlisted, yet it seems to have been passed around like a hot potato, with folks from everywhere, from the UK to Peru and even Egypt, getting hold of it. Looks like this is linked to Avebury in the UK.

Had a call from an Asian lady claiming to be from BT, saying there was something wrong with our internet. I kept telling her it was fine and that nothing was wrong, but she seemed to get quite annoyed after I said it a few times and then just hung up. I told her not to call again, but I’m sure they’ll just keep ringing anyway.

Got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent calling himself Jerry (seriously?) saying he was from BT and my router was 'broken'. He wanted me to turn on my PC so he could 'fix' it. I told him I was a Sky customer to throw him off (I’m not, mind), then asked him to give me my BT account number to prove who he was. He called me a fibber and then just hung up! That number’s definitely blocked now.

They claimed to be from BT saying my router was messed up, but they really just wanted my bank info and for me to log into their so-called "website" to install some program so they could get into my PC. I actually enjoy these calls and see how long I can keep them talking - this one lasted a good 24 minutes before they finally gave up and hung up. Pretty sure I won this round!

Got a call from an Asian guy saying he was from BT, telling me my router was throwing error alerts and that someone was trying to hack into it. I told him straight up that it’s one of the oldest scams out there (started with those fake Microsoft security calls). He just hung up on me.

Got a call from an Asian lady, line sounded like she was miles away. Said she was calling from BT and my computer was causing loads of issues messing with my router. Told me to go to my PC and she'd guide me to fix these supposed bugs. I asked for her name, something like Jennifer, and then asked for her number. She just cut the call! I've since reported it to actionfraud on their website.

My mum got a call from someone saying they were from BT, using the number 01296651175. They convinced her there was a problem with her computer and somehow got her to let them access it. After that, they erased all her data, including years of family pictures and emails. Then they even tried asking for her bank info! Mum ended the call, but they kept ringing so much she had to take the phone off the hook. I was with her when they called again and told them I'd report them if they didn’t stop.

I just received a call from this number, and funnily enough, I haven’t been with BT for ages! I flat-out told him he was a con artist. Then, out of the blue, he asked if I was married-like that's any of his business! I replied with a no, and he followed up by asking my age. I couldn’t believe the cheek! I said it was quite improper to ask a lady such a thing. I demanded he remove my number from his records. Oddly enough, he then started claiming he wanted to propose to me and professed his undying love! I promptly hung up. To my annoyance, he kept ringing back for a quarter of an hour. I hung up each time until I finally decided to just leave the phone on. What a bizarre experience!

Earlier today, I received a phone call from someone claiming to be from BT. I was already experiencing issues with my internet, so I followed their instructions without hesitation. However, when they asked for my bank details, I declined. The caller then threatened to sabotage my computer, insisting they had access to it, and unfortunately, they went ahead and did just that.

Such a relief not having to hear them ring, and I actually enjoy checking the missed calls just to block them permanently. If you’re upset about these calls, don’t be - get yourself a call blocker phone. Honestly, best buy I’ve made in ages.

An Asian gentleman claimed to be from BT Technical Support, indicating there was an issue with my router that was disrupting my computers, among other things. I pointed out that his connection seemed poor and I struggled to hear him, which prompted him to abruptly end the call. This number has been harassing me for days, but I'd missed their previous attempts, so this was my first chance to answer. I've been inundated with a string of similar calls recently. They insist I need to fork out £15 for the Telephone Preference Service, argue that I require an engineer to rectify a faulty database, and threaten that I must send payment to proceed with upgrading my telecom services. Someone said they were from BT. Looks like they’re using UK landline codes now, but the calls actually come from abroad. 01296 651175 called claiming to be from BT. They said there was an issue with the router and asked my partner to press the Windows key and R at the same time. When he finally managed to speak, he introduced himself as Richard from BT, claiming there was an issue with our router. His accent was quite distinctly Asian. Curious about how he obtained our number, I inquired, and he answered that it was sourced from BT. Properly fed up with these calls - already had three today. Reported them to BT this afternoon. Told the bloke on the phone straight he was full of it. Got a right aggressive reaction. Received a call on the 27th of September, 2016. The individual on the other end had such a thick accent that it was quite tricky to make out what they were saying. Definitely not a representative from BT, that's for sure. They were trying the age-old trick of claiming there are issues with error messages. Just like everyone else here, I got a call from someone saying they're BT, telling me to enter stuff on my computer. I just mess around and keep them on the line pretending to cooperate. Then when they asked, "What do you see on your screen?" I shot back, "It says you've just wasted 5 minutes of your day. Do you think I'm daft or something?" They hung up straight away. For me, the longer I keep them chatting, the less time they’ve got to pull the scam on someone else.
