This is the second occasion I’ve got a scam call about some PCP finance business. The number was different this time, showing up as Banbury, but the voice didn’t sound local at all. They knew my name plus an old number plate from a car my wife used to have. They asked if I’d taken it out on finance. I kept asking them where they’d got my details from, but the woman just kept replying “from the client.” After a few times I just ended the call.

Yet another phone number showing up claiming to be from PCP (they’ve also sent me texts before) - this time it was a Brighton area code. There was a strange pause, then someone who didn’t speak English properly spoke and somehow knew my name, which really creeped me out. They said they were from PCP, but I ended the call straight away, careful not to say much so they couldn’t record my voice. No idea how they got hold of my info but it’s both irritating and quite worrying.

So I got a call asking me to verify I’d settled my phone bill via direct debit. Then, oddly enough, they wanted me to confirm my card's expiry date. Hold on, aren't direct debits taken straight from your bank account, not charged to a card? Pretty bizarre if you ask me!

This number rang me earlier. A guy with an Indian accent answered, asking for me by name and claiming to be from the Telephone Preference Service. He wanted to know if I was still getting annoying calls. I told him yes, so he said he could put a stop to those calls forever. I said “Sure, why not” and then he just cut the call. Luckily, it was my landline they called, so I used 1471 to look it up and then blocked it using the 1572 service.

Total scam this is. Got a call from a woman speaking with a South Asian accent, said she was from BT and needed to verify my phone line was alright. Of course it was. Then she asked for my direct debit info, which seemed really dodgy. Next, she passed me onto a bloke, also with a similar accent, claiming to be her supervisor. He said there was something wrong with my card details and asked for them again. I hung up straight away and rang BT myself. They told me it was definitely a scam and set me up with BT Call Protect. Avoid answering this number at all costs.
