Back again. The last caller was quite polite, but this time it was a bloke with a strong Asian accent that was hard to understand. He was trying to tell me my nuisance call blocking service was about to run out and asked if I settled phone bills with cash or direct debit. I told him cash, and then he passed me on to a guy called Mark, who also sounded Asian. Mark wanted me to look at the expiry date on my debit card?? What on earth has that got to do with paying by cash? They already knew my name and address and seemed to be fishing for my bank info. Watch out for this one.

Honestly, it'd be good to have a whistle nearby, but be careful not to put the phone to your ear when you blow it or you'll end up with ringing ears too.

Got a call from a woman named Grace, sounds like she might be Asian, asking for me. When I asked her who she was, she said she was from TPS. She wanted to know if I was the householder with the name she mentioned. I told her no, just made up a story even though she insisted it was urgent to speak to me. As soon as I said I wasn’t there, she hung up. Shame really, must be terrible people pushed into doing crap like this. The number looked like it was a UK one, which is odd. I’ve sent an email to TPS about it.

The lady spoke with a strong Asian accent and sounded like she was just reading a script, with loads of racket in the background like a scam factory. I got a call from a bloke with an accent who said his name was Dave and claimed to be from the Telephone Preference Service. He kept speaking over me and demanded I confirm my debit card’s expiry date to prove I was the one paying for the phone line. He insisted I should just listen to him, so I just ended the call. They’ve called me three times today, and I only picked up on the third ring. He also kept going on about following DPA rules - I tried to tell him that GDPR’s what matters now since it started in May, but he wouldn’t hear it.
