Had a call similar to this from someone named Officer John Anderson - or maybe it was Dibble, if yer old enough to recall that name! They left a threatening message saying there’s a lawsuit against me and a cop would show up to arrest me. When I rang back, they repeated the same story. Just to clarify, HMRC would never handle things like this. It’s absolutely a scam!

Got a call from 0044 1285 70 66 88 while in Austria. The person on the line had an American accent but seemed really untrustworthy, messing up official titles badly. They made some harsh threats about taxes, saying they'd call again and that if I didn't ring back or get my lawyer involved, I'd be facing prosecution. Felt very dodgy indeed.

Got a missed call and the voicemail said it was from HMRC. I called back and some bloke answered, claiming to be HMRC. I told him he sounded like a robot, definitely not how I imagine HMRC would sound. He asked me what I thought HMRC were supposed to sound like. Later, I rang from a withheld number and he admitted he wasn’t with HMRC. Total SCAM.
