Got a call from 01281 206565 telling me £600 was spent on my credit card abroad. They asked me to press 1 to talk about it. They never said which card or any details. I rang my bank who said this has been a known scam running since August! Be careful and just don't answer or engage with these calls.

Got calls from 01821 434484 four times over two days. First time it was an automated message saying there was an issue with our internet and it’d be shut off. This morning, my 86-year-old mother, who is recently bereaved, received a rather dubious call from 01281 21045116. A woman claiming to represent Virgin Bank informed her that she owed £600 and urged her to press 1 for immediate assistance. Believing the situation to be genuine, she complied, only to be told that the £600 would soon be deducted from her account. When my mum started asking for details, the caller became evasive, which prompted her to hang up and contact me. I swiftly reassured her it was a scam, as neither she nor my late father have ever held an account with Virgin Bank. I keep receiving these dodgy calls with alarming frequency. You know the type - someone claiming to be from TalkTalk and warning me that my internet connection is on the verge of being cut off. They urge me to hit 1 to chat with a technician about fixing the issue.
I used to simply disconnect the call, but now I've taken to pressing 1 and letting some chap with a poor connection ramble on with his nonsense.
After a few minutes of this, I inform him that I’m not a TalkTalk customer and tell him to b***** off.
I’m thinking of getting a whistle and giving it a good blow down the line - should certainly cause him a bit of a headache!

Got calls this morning from 01281206683, 01284777291 and 01289175665, all pretending they were with TalkTalk. Before they used to say they were from BT. I found it really annoying, but I think it could be more harmful for people who are more vulnerable. Isnt there a way to block these scammers off the phone system for good? This “area code” is also linked to a set of mobile numbers in Asia, so I reckon it has nothing to do with the UK. It’s one of those common scam calls you keep seeing. Got a call from 01281 848201 saying something about a BT line at first, but it was clear he wasn't gonna get any info from me. Then he started taking the mick out of my name. Claimed he was based in Newgate St, London, which I pointed out was a fitting place given it's near The Old Bailey. After I said that, he just hung up after trying to be clever.

Received a call today from 01281 90253; an Asian-sounding voice claimed my internet was under threat. I hung up and decided to contact BT, only to find that the same voice rang me from a different BT number. However, BT had no knowledge of any such attack. I’ve now set up call blocking with them!

I received a call from 01281-980531.
Same old nonsense, claiming I was on the verge of disconnection.

I promptly informed them to take a hike (but I may have chosen more colourful language to express myself)!

I've had a couple of calls from the number 1281 553781. Each time, I didn’t engage in conversation; instead, there was an automated woman's voice on the line, claiming that my BT internet was on the verge of being cut off. She prompted me to choose between two options: press #1 if I wanted to sort out the matter, or #2 if I wished to have my internet switched off. I opted not to respond to either choice. Eventually, the call was handed over to a real person, but I chose to stay quiet, and before long, the call was ended.

i keep getting calls twice daily from this number. it's some woman with an accent saying her name is shirley and she talks about my bt internet. problem is, i dont even have bt. now when i see this number on my phone i answer but stay silent since the call seems to respond to voice, and then they just end the call.

Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent, saying something about my BT broadband. When I asked her who was the account holder of the BT service linked to my number, she just ended the call. Quite suspicious if you ask me. Best to just hang up straight away, as this number (01281) isn’t even a proper UK area code.

I received an automated call claiming that my BT IP has been hacked, instructing me to press 1 to connect with a so-called advisor. It’s evident that this is a scam-definitely don’t engage! I've been unfortunate enough to receive this call three times already. Such a nuisance! 😟

I received a call from 01281 756907 at 11 o'clock this morning. It was an automated message instructing me to press 1 if I wanted details about an issue with my BT internet connection. My husband pressed 1 and then a male voice came on, with an accent that seemed to suggest it might have been Indian. He mentioned something about our BT internet service being on the verge of disconnection, which sounded very fishy, so we hung up. Then, about 20 minutes later, we got another call from an 'INTERNATIONAL' number-01285 832808. I decided not to answer that one; the answering machine picked up, but they didn't leave a message. It's clear that these are untrustworthy calls-I'd strongly recommend not answering them!

I've just received a call from this number, but they hung up before I could pick up. Plus, I had an early morning call from them too. Looks like another dodgy scam to me!

I received a call from 01281 586863, and the chap on the other end claimed to be from BT, saying he'd somehow stumbled upon my internet connection. Honestly, do they believe we're all buffoons? I told him to do one, though perhaps not in the most civil manner!
