Got a call from 01281 206565 telling me £600 was spent on my credit card abroad. They asked me to press 1 to talk about it. They never said which card or any details. I rang my bank who said this has been a known scam running since August! Be careful and just don't answer or engage with these calls.

They ring nonstop, like really early on a Sunday, then again at 7:50am Monday, and once more around 8:45am. They switch up the numbers too. They never leave a voicemail, but if you pick up, there’s a pause then some spiel about my internet getting cut off. I just hang up straight away, cos I’ve had these calls before. Got calls from 01821 434484 four times over two days. First time it was an automated message saying there was an issue with our internet and it’d be shut off. This morning my 86 year old mother, who’s recently lost my dad, got a call from 01281 21045116. A woman claimed to be from Virgin Bank and said my mum owed £600. She asked her to press 1 to talk to someone else because it was urgent. My mum did what she was told and was then told £600 would be taken straight from her bank account. She tried to get some names and info, then ended the call and rang me instantly. I told her straight away it was a scam since neither of them ever had an account with Virgin Bank. I’m definitely blocking this number today. Just wanted to warn others about these horrible scam callers!

I got a call from a lady in the States saying my Visa debit had been cashed out for £600 within the last 30 minutes through Western Union. She wanted me to hit 1 on the phone. I ended the call straight away because it seemed dodgy. Later, I checked and the number she called from was 01281 895 489. Thought I’d share this in case it helps anyone else.

These scam calls keep coming in all the time. Normally, it’s someone claiming to be from TalkTalk, saying my internet will be cut off soon - then they ask me to press 1 to talk to an engineer. I used to just hang up straight away, but nowadays I hit 1 and put up with some bloke on a really dodgy line going on with his nonsense. After a few minutes, I finally tell him I’m not with TalkTalk and to sod off. I’m thinking of getting a whistle and blowing it loud down the phone next time - probably won’t do much but might annoy him a bit!

Got a call from 01281 252515 - supposedly. It's the second call from an 01281 number within a bit over an hour, but it’s a different one this time. Phone log just shows it as an international number. This “area code” is also linked to a set of mobile numbers in Asia, so I reckon it has nothing to do with the UK. It’s one of those common scam calls you keep seeing. I’ve blocked the number, but I’m sure these con artists have loads of different lines. Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent, saying something about my BT broadband. When I asked her who was the account holder of the BT service linked to my number, she just ended the call. Quite suspicious if you ask me. Best to just hang up straight away, as this number (01281) isn’t even a proper UK area code.

Got a robocall telling me my BT internet was hacked and to press 1 to chat with someone. Total scam, obviously. Just hang up straight away. They’ve called me like three times already. :(

At around 11 in the morning, I got a call from 01281 756907, it was an automated message asking us to press 1 to get info about an issue with our BT internet. My partner pressed 1, then a man with a voice that sounded Indian started talking about our BT internet service being at risk of disconnection. We just hung up straight away. Then, about twenty minutes afterwards, there was another call from a number showing as INTERNATIONAL, 01285 832808. We didn't answer that one, the answering machine kicked in but no voicemail was left. Definitely scams, I'd say best just don’t pick these up!

This number just gave me a ring but hung up before I could pick up. Also, I got an early morning call from it the other day. Definitely feels like another scam to me.

Just got a call from 01281 586863, some guy claiming he was from BT saying he’d somehow messed with my internet by mistake. Honestly, do they really reckon we’re that daft? I wasn’t exactly polite and told him to clear off!

I tried calling back 684482 and 619482 but just got straight into their answering machine without any message left.

Got a call like that earlier, didn’t bother with it just hung up straight away...
