I rang up a company called oneinsurance on 01782 781500, based in Stoke-on-Trent, to get a quote for my car insurance. After sharing all my details, the lady with a Cockney accent asked me to hold while she consulted her manager regarding the quote with Hertz Insurance. Out of the blue, I was then passed on to another representative, a chap named Mike who claimed he was from Sterling Insurance, currently showing the number 01279 729280 in Bishops Stortford. He insisted I repeat all my information, only to inform me that the cheapest quote he could offer was over £500. I wasn’t keen on that, so I declined and hung up. Not long after, I received a call from the same Cockney lady, but this time on 0191 594 9970, apparently calling me from Sunderland. She asked if I had received a quote. I explained that I had been transferred, and at first, she seemed unaware of the situation. However, she eventually apologised for the confusion, and we concluded the call. I'm starting to think there might be something dodgy going on here. I suspect they might be gathering personal information for illicit purposes.
