I only gave them my name, told them I hadn’t bought a new washer, and then I just hung up. When I mentioned my bank was the “Bank of Paris” (which isn't real), they didn’t notice or question it. They gave me a reference and ID number, claiming they never ask for bank or card info, and that the money would be in some kind of digital wallet. Then they passed me on to another bloke with an Asian accent, who asked for those IDs again, but I gave him fake ones. When i asked what bank name they had, i said “Bank of Paris” which doesnt really exist, they seemed clueless. They then gave me an ID and reference number and said they dont need bank or card details cos the money was “in a wallet”. Then they transferred me to another guy with an asian accent who asked for those numbers again. I gave him the wrong ones on purpose. He seemed puzzled and asked for my phone number so he could verify. Then he gave me new ID and ref numbers, again different from before, told me i’m no good with tech and offered to help me access this “wallet”. Next thing, he told me to put my phone on loudspeaker and download an app called Anydesk from the Play Store so he could remote control my phone. Obviously, this was to steal bank info, passwords and who knows what else.
