Got a couple of calls today, and when I picked up, it seemed like it switched to some other call. Heard some noise in the back, but no one actually said a word.

Got a call on 15/05/23 at about 8:45 in the morning, then another one near 9:55. I didnt pick up either time. Looks from what I read online that this might just be some dodgy scammer ringing people.

Got a call from 01275 951098, first on my landline then on my mobile. They kept saying it was my husband’s number but it’s not. They claimed to be from a fraud helpline, but when I called them out for being the fraudsters, they started swearing at me like mad! Ended with them hoping my bank account gets emptied. I later found out their number is listed on half a dozen scam sites. And this all happened on a bank holiday! I joked that scammers don’t take holidays, and got told to f*** off right back. Ridiculous behaviour.

Got a call saying I might owe maintenance charges on a timeshare that I supposedly sold ages ago. This is the second time this month I've had something like this pop up. Feels like a total scam to me.

Had a call from someone saying they were with a Legal Advice centre, almost identical to one I got from 01327437811 a couple days back. The lady introduced herself on my BT Premium call blocker. When I answered and asked who she was, she insisted she was from some “legal advisory company” and claimed the SFO had told her to get in touch because there’d been bogus ‘legal’ calls about fees for timeshare refunds. She said she couldn’t find any record of earlier calls and got a bit sharp when I pointed out she was reading from the same script. Like before, when I rang the number back, it just rang once then cut off with a steady tone. I really need to remember to ask the next caller what happens if I try calling them back?

So, some bloke rang me saying he got my number from the ‘National Crime Unit’. I told him straight, there’s no such thing - it’s the National Crime Agency, trust me, I used to be a copper. He sounded a bit rattled after that, and just as he was about to say more, I cut him off. Proper pain in the neck, that one.

Somebody called saying they were from a government office, trying to give me legal advice about a timeshare. Thing is, I actually work as a senior lawyer for the government, so I started asking them detailed questions and they just couldn’t keep up. Once they figured out I was going to complain about them, they got quite rude. Not impressed at all.

Here we go again, some company trying to profit from timeshares. They ring me loads of times each week from different numbers, but this one just used a single number which is a bit unusual. My tip? Just block any number you don’t recognise and avoid picking up. If it’s something important, they’ll probably leave a clear message. Oh, and definitely put 01524488459 on your block list too - same annoyance but coming from a different area code.
