Just like loads of people have said, someone called me on Tuesday 11th pretending there’s some big lawsuit and told me to call back or else. The name they used was Jennifer Coleman. I’m well aware it’s a total con, but I worry older folks might get tricked by this sort of nasty scam.

Someone rang sayin I owed a penalty tax and if I didn’t pay up, they’d send an officer with an arrest warrant. When I asked for their address, the caller got really rude so I just ended it. On the 9th of October 2018, I got a really pushy automated call threatening me with a big lawsuit if I didn’t get back to them. The message ended with a weird “have a blessed day” which made it even more suspicious. I told her I’d pass the info to my accountant and let him handle it, but she just hung up on me.

I got a robotic call from someone claiming to be ‘Jennifer Coleman, HMRC’, telling me there was a ‘serious lawsuit’ against me and if I didn’t reply, there’d be ‘tough legal actions’ coming my way - said it was my ‘final chance to sort it out’. They finished with ‘Goodbye and have a blessed day’. Proper dodgy! I rang back and spoke to a bloke with a strange accent who said he was from the Inland Revenue, but then he just hung up on me. So, got a call from one of them scam groups, this time ringing from India, not even anywhere near Brighton or the UK. They were trying to freak me out, saying I’d dodged my taxes between 2013 and 2017 and now owe £378.45 or I’d end up in prison!
