I got a call from Greenpeace recently. To be sure, I rang them back on their official 0800 269 065 number I found on their website https://donate.greenpeace.org.uk. They told me my donation details were all in order, but said that the number that called me might just be one of many they use, so they couldn’t verify that exact number. Correct me if I’m mistaken, but I reckon this isn’t a scam provided the organisation itself is genuine.

I’m a bit sceptical about their legitimacy. When I tried calling back, a robotic voice claimed to represent an organisation linked to Greenpeace. It also mentioned that if you’d like to opt out of receiving further calls regarding this campaign, you should press ‘1’. Quite peculiar, really!

I seem to have inadvertently barred this number on my phone, although it’s possible that I was the one who did it myself. I recall having made a donation to them a while back, but I suspect I took the step to block them as I was no longer interested in supporting their cause. There’s a chance they’re a genuine outfit that’s been hired to make calls.
