Yesterday I got five calls, first one was from a hidden number, then the same number called me four times after that. Today the pattern started again, first call was withheld. Just bracing myself for a flood of calls later on! They never leave any messages or background noise either.

Got two calls from this number, picked up today. The bloke claimed he was from BT tech team, saying they were watching my Google usage on my internet. I told him straight, "No way." Turns out, after checking here, it’s all a scam. Pretending to be a legit company like that is just asking for trouble for anyone who falls for it. Proper shame.

They ended the call when the answering machine picked up, cheers for the info. I’ve blocked the number using my Panasonic call blocker, cost me under 30 quid at ASDA, totally worth it. Plus, we’re in a spot that gets power cuts often, and this phone is the only one I’ve found that keeps the right time and date and holds saved messages through power loss. It’s a Panasonic model kx-tgc22e - BT couldn’t provide anything like that, or more honestly, didn’t even know if they could.

I'm experiencing the same problem as everyone else who has left comments. Today, I received three phone calls from someone who claimed to be from BT. However, I couldn't understand anything apart from the mention of "from BT." It is evident that they are not actually from BT. Furthermore, every time I asked them to speak louder or clarify their purpose for calling, they abruptly ended the call on three separate occasions.

Received a call today from someone claiming to be from BT, stating that my router was experiencing issues and my computer was sending out error messages. They advised me to turn on my computer, as they suspected it to be infected. Interestingly, I receive similar calls on a daily basis. When I informed the caller that I did not own a computer, she asked if I had a laptop. I replied with a negative response, and she promptly ended the call. Once again, I reported this incident to BT.

They rang us two times today. I picked up the first time and quickly sussed out it was a scam, told them to jog on!! Sadly my missus answered the second call about an hour later and almost gave away info before I twigged who she was chatting to. Weird thing is we're actually waiting on BT to sort our fibre upgrade, which is why she nearly fell for it! BT seriously needs to put a stop to this.

Got a call from “BT Internet Service Line” - guess what, they didn’t even bother hiding their number! An Indian lady tried to tell me my computer had a virus and offered to sort it out. I smelt a rat straight away. Over the next few minutes, I managed to get more details out of her than she did from me. She clearly knew f-all about tech, and I could easily mess her around. I reckon she clocked she wasn’t getting anywhere and just ended the call abruptly. I've since reported it to Action Fraud.

A woman with an Indian accent tried to tell me my computer had a virus and that she could sort it out. I saw straight away it was a scam. Over the next few minutes, I managed to gather way more info about her than she did about me. Honestly, she had zero clue about computers and I could’ve talked circles around her. I received an unexpected call from someone claiming to be from the "BT Internet Service Line," and what surprised me even more was that they hadn't hidden their number. The caller, an Indian woman, tried to persuade me that my computer was infected and that she could fix it. Right away, I sensed that this was a scam. Instead of falling for it, I managed to gather more information from her than she did from me. It became evident that she had very little knowledge about computers, while I was able to outsmart her easily. In the end, I think she realized she was wasting her time and abruptly hung up the phone. Aware of the fraudulent nature of this call, I promptly reported it to Action Fraud.

The caller ID showed 'INTERNATIONAL' but the number looked like it was from Brighton, which seemed strange. So, I just let it go to my voicemail. They ended the call quickly. I decided to have a quick look up of the number, glad I did. I normally never pick up international calls, but that number got me wondering. They've called back since, but again only left a message on the answerphone.

Got multiple calls today and over the past few days too. When I tried calling back the number from 1471, it just said unreachable. A woman with an Indian accent told me "I'm from BT. Your router has some error messages we're getting". I tried to keep her on the line (better she’s not scamming someone else while talking to me) but as soon as I asked "What errors exactly?" she ended the call. Sounds like, like others have said here, she was probably after my computer info. Plus, I’ve recently had a nightmare getting BT in India to sort an email issue, so maybe just a coincidence.

I phoned Virgin, who provide my phone and broadband, to report a phishing call. They told me they don’t have the tech to block specific numbers. Their suggestions were for me to contact the Telephone Preference Service, block all calls showing as “number withheld”, or just change my phone number! It’s disappointing how they don’t protect vulnerable customers and in a way let scammers carry on. You might want to reach out to Virgin’s CEO at [email protected][###] phone 020 7356 4931.

I received a call from someone who claimed to be Nigel from BT, informing me that my router was malfunctioning and needed to be replaced. He asked me to go to my PC so that he could assist me in fixing it. I responded by saying that I didn't have the time to do so. In turn, he threatened not to send me the free replacement router and mentioned that I could potentially be charged £200 for it. I calmly told him that I was fortunate enough to be a customer of Virgin. After that, he abruptly ended the call.

I received two phone calls this morning from 01272737802. A woman with a strong Asian accent greeted me by saying "Hello Ma'm". It was clear that she was not trained in England because some people might not appreciate being called "Mum" by a stranger. On both occasions, she claimed to be calling from British Telecom and asked me how I was doing. The first time, I politely mentioned that her call was a nuisance and promptly hung up. An hour later, when she called again, I informed her that she had already contacted me earlier in the day and requested that she remove my number from her calling list. She agreed to do so, but I am now awaiting the next call. To deal with persistent callers, I keep a recording device next to the phone and blow into it forcefully as a signal that I have had enough. This usually manages to get the message across to them.

Yesterday, I received four calls from a particular number, and today, they've called me twice. Each time, they claimed to be from BT and warned me about malicious files being downloaded through my router. They insisted that if I didn't allow them to assist me, my computer would soon be affected and crash. Their instructions were to press the windows key and "R" on my keyboard. Due to the fact that my computer is provided by my company, I have consistently declined their request. I took the matter seriously and reported it to BT, who confirmed that this was indeed a scam. However, their advice was rather limited - they proposed a £5 per month calling package add-on which supposedly blocks the scam number. Frustrated by the lack of assistance, I decided to reach out to the police. They provided me with a fraud hotline number and documented the details of the incident. Unfortunately, I am doubtful that anything substantial will come from it as it probably won't receive much attention.

Today, I answered a call from a gentleman named Chris Martinez, who had previously tried to contact us on multiple occasions. He claimed to be checking for viruses on our computer, assuring us that there would be no charge and even mentioned the possibility of a refund. However, I was quite skeptical about this offer. Knowing that we use a Mac, I put him to the test by asking him to provide our address and BT account number. Surprisingly, he provided a number but admitted that he only had access to our account and telephone number. His vague response raised suspicions, as it seemed like he wasn't being completely honest. Fed up with his misleading tactics, we labeled him a time waster and promptly ended the call.

Then about an hour later, I got another ring from a guy named Danny, also from BT apparently. He was saying my router had some errors showing up on their system and that I’d probably noticed my internet getting slow recently and that he needed to look into it. I told him my router was “working perfectly fine” and he just ended the call. Strange experience!

They kept phoning me, saying they were from BT and that there was an issue with my router. But my router is fine, no problems at all. I told them to stop calling me, yet they just carried on. What a bunch of nasty scammers.

A person of Asian descent claimed to be from BT and informed me about an issue with my internet. They requested that I turn on my computer for them to check the line. However, they didn't respond well to my statement indicating that I wasn't a BT customer and only owned an iPad, not a computer. They appeared to utter derogatory remarks in a foreign language before abruptly ending the call. Interestingly, I have received three subsequent calls from the same number, but I chose to ignore them.

Got three calls from someone saying they were from BT, sounded like an Indian woman, really rude and short with me. She just hung up when I told her my internet and computer were fine.

Got a call from this number earlier, said they were from BT and started going on about problems with my router and some sort of interference. I’m in IT myself so just laughed it off and they hung up. I reckon they must have someone on the inside at BT helping them out. I’m already dealing with a complaint at BT and they just told me today they won’t be giving me any compensation. Bit of a weird coincidence to get a dodgy call like this on the same day, don’t you think?

I keep getting calls from this number claiming to be BT. The last person was rambling in an Indian accent, so I told him to ring back when he could speak proper English! Today the caller spoke English, saying I had some "dung virus" affecting my internet speed. He was asking me to get in front of my computer, but I said no. He wanted to stay on the line while I did, but I refused. Told him if he’s really from BT, they’d email me about any issues. Ended the call there! Weird behaviour.

Got a call from an Asian woman twice today. First time my partner just ended the call. The second time, I picked up and she claimed she was ringing from BT about my router spreading malware to my PC. She told me to switch it on so she could walk me through fixing it. I told her I'd rather ring BT myself to check. She then said if I didn't let her sort it now, my computer would crash. I refused again and she just hung up.

I asked the guy why his number shows up as a scam on Google, and he just hung up on me. OFCOM really needs to go after the phone companies that let scammers sell their numbers and make them take responsibility. I reckon more folks should be emailing their MPs to get them to do something about it.

You lot not helping at all, it’s the router that’s dodgy, must be a virus or something wrong with it!!!

Got a call from someone with an Indian accent claiming my router was having issues. I told them I had no idea what they were talking about, and then they just ended the call. The number shows up as a Brighton one (01273737802). Honestly, BT needs to get a grip on this. Do they think I’m daft or something!?

I have received two phone calls on my landline today, claiming there is an issue with my router and insisting that I switch on my computer. It is without a doubt a scam. It's important to think before you take any action!

They rung me up again just now! Told them off already this morning, but they keep at it. If loads of people complain to BT, maybe they’ll do something about it. It’s a proper scam, so make sure you tell your mates - older folks might easily get caught out (although my 81-year-old mum said she’s not having any of it!)

Just a heads up, this number isn't actually from the UK, it's a scam from overseas. They keep calling you over and over. Don’t bother ringing back. You can get a BT phone that blocks these kind of calls, which is funny coz they usually pretend to be from BT.

Didn't hear a word, but got two calls today from this number. Before that, had similar silent calls from 012966651175 - sounds like what others said about it being a scam to do with routers.

This number is from the UK so why doesn’t OFCOM just block it? What exactly do we pay OFCOM for, feels like they are just taking the mick with the UK government on this.

A person of Asian descent claiming to be from BT contacted me and requested access to my computer to address a virus issue. However, when I asked for clarification by questioning the address registered to my number, he was unable to provide any information. This occurrence is similar to a previous incident involving another Asian man who claimed there was a problem with my router. The call I received from the second individual originated from the number 01296651176.

First ring they just dropped the call right away. Second time, some woman with a really heavy Asian accent, almost couldn't catch what she was saying - said it was BT about my broadband. Told her we use someone else and she just ended the call. Seems fishy to me.

The caller sounded Asian and claimed to be from BT Technical Support. I told him I actually worked in BT Customer Service and asked what the issue was. He didn’t reply and just kept demanding my name. I said I’d report him to the higher ups since I had his number, and then he just ended the call!

This number keeps calling nonstop - often it’s a voice with an Asian accent saying “hello hello” then speaking in a language I don’t recognise before hanging up. Other times it just rings once or twice and then stops. I’m really tired of this now. Like others have mentioned earlier, it’s a UK landline number, probably from BT or a similar provider, so someone must be picking up the tab. Why hasn’t OFCOM or BT shut it down or fined them? I’m thinking about contacting my MP about this, and maybe if enough of us do, something will finally be done.

Got a call from an Asian woman who gave the name Jessica, first claiming to be from Talk Talk then suddenly BT. She told me my router had issues and insisted I turn on my PC so she could fix it. I told her I wasn’t free to fiddle with the computer right now and she replied with something like “How does a b***h like you have a baby?” before just hanging up. Well, that was a pleasant conversation... not.

After a disagreement with a caller claiming to be from "Windows Support," I've been getting silent calls and ones from numbers that don’t seem to be real. I’ve got a BT 8600 phone and it’s so frustrating. These scammers are just pure thieves. Why doesn’t BT or any other phone company step up and sort this out? The only way they’ve got my number is through some supposed ‘legit’ company. It feels like my info is being passed around to dodgy third parties.

Got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent who claimed he was from BT tech support, saying my router was having issues. He said they'd send a replacement this Saturday but needed me to turn on my PC so he could show me the problem. I told him no way and said I'd ring BT myself. He then said he'd post me a letter and ended the call.

Got called twice today from this number, something about issues with my BT router. First time I asked them who they were trying to reach on my BT account, and they said “you”. I pressed them a bit more and they got rude, saying “why did you answer then? You’re wasting my time” and then just hung up! Cheeky lot. Second time I picked up but once I heard all the noise in the background, I just put the phone down straight away.

Got a call from an Asian bloke saying he's a BT engineer, asking to get into my PC to fix a virus. Told him I had the exact same call the previous day and I’m not daft to fall for it twice. Told him to quit wasting his time and he just hung up on me. It’s odd how these calls only begin after I’ve contacted BT (based in India) and given them my number and such. Makes me wonder if some BT workers are sharing our info with scammers?

In just a couple of days I got two calls from someone claiming to be from BT. Has anyone else experienced this? Like, did you recently report a real issue with your broadband or phone line and then got this call afterwards? Because that’s what happened to me and it’s making me wonder if someone in BT might be leaking info. It feels dodgy, not sure if it’s a legit follow-up or a scam.
