These peolple honestly acted like GDPR was some sort of STD when I was employed there. The only reason I got fooled was because I genuinely believed no boss could be that daft, illegal, and careless. You can even catch Sturgess flaunting his dodgy lifestyle on Twitter without a care. I really don’t get how these firms are still allowed to operate, it’s baffling.

Back when I was at that place, I swear, they seemed to reckon GDPR was some kind of STD. The only reason I’ve been fooled is because I naively thought no boss could be that oblivious, illegal and careless. You can spot Sturgess on Twitter showing off his dodgy gains like he’s proud of it. Honestly, I can’t get my head around how these firms are still allowed to carry on!

Honestly, I reckon they should face criminal charges on top of the fines. Given how dodgy they are in getting money off people, it feels like a proper Police probe should happen, and those responsible need to be held accountable criminally.

I got a missed call from 01273 714550 on my phone. When I called back, an automated message said "this number is from API Telecom, call 0845 286 9727 for details." So I rang that number and it told me to call them back again, which I did, but then the call just disconnected. When I searched for API Telecom, I found they actually have numbers like 01273 714567 and 01273 714562. Seems really suspicious to me!!!

I rang them up to complain after getting a cold call on my number, which is registered with the TPS. The woman who answered acted like I was daft. When I told her about the TPS and that it’s illegal to call me, she said, "The TPS is just for people who prefer not to get calls, it’s not actually against the law for UK companies to cold call TPS numbers. The TPS only blocks calls from abroad." Totally ridiculous. I told her not to take me for a mug and to have a proper look at the law online. What clowns. They really seem to think we’re all mugs and will believe their nonsense.

Every scam call or text should be reported to the police system. Honestly, it’s one of the few ways to really deal with these annoying people over time. Just search for ‘action fraud’, go to the ‘police.uk’ page, click on ‘reporting’ and choose the phishing report from the dropdown menu. Keep scrolling past the scam email bit to find the option for scam call or text reports. You don’t need to sign up and it only takes as long as leaving a comment here. After that, make sure you update everyone here to keep folks warned and safe. Be careful out there, everyone!

Total muppets, they must really think I’m daft with all that rubbish about their gadgets being set up to block annoying callers. Also, how can they be offering equity release from one office under two different directors but with the same team ringing me, and still be following GDPR? I honestly hope they're not using the same phone book for all their calls, that would be proper illegal and they could get slapped with a fine up to ninety quid for every leaked CVV number.

I reckon the woman calling herself 'Stacey' might actually be Stacey Higgins from Brighton, married to a Thomas Higgins. At 10.57 on 2nd June 2020 I picked up the phone and a lady asked if I was Mrs ? I said yes, then she asked if my husband was there, I said no. She said she was calling about Equity Release. Then she asked if my home was owned jointly. I asked her how she got my number since we’re ex-directory. She said I must have enquired about Equity Release. I received a rather dubious call earlier today from someone claiming they needed to refresh my information. Absolutely spot on, I've had the same troubling experience with this number. They attempted to deceive my elderly parents, which is simply despicable behaviour. The call seemed to originate from Brighton, yet it could easily be a ruse. The number in question is 01273 714550. Upon trying to ring them back, I received a recorded message indicating that this line is associated with Api Telecom, and they instructed me to call 0845 2869727. However, I’d advise against dialling that number as well; it could very well be another scam. It's vital we take action against such reprehensible individuals. Please make sure to report them at: https://reporting.actionfraud.police.uk/ These people are truly the lowest of the low.

It was pretty intense but it really depended on who you were speaking to and the data they had on you, like if the info was tougher, the pressure ramped up. I wouldn't sell to folks who seemed a bit off, which I'd say goes for any job. Sometimes they held back pay if targets weren't hit. Mostly it was just reading from a script and I didn't really question it. Once I realised it was a scam I left straight away. Can't say too much more for obvious reasons, but I’m certain the right authorities have been notified.
6 years
Can you share more about what they were actually up to? What was your job meant to be and what did you find yourself doing in the end? I guess you probably expected it to be a straightforward phone canvassing role, just ringing people and trying to make a sale. But I’ve heard from other folks who worked there that they faced loads of stress, got treated badly, and sometimes didn’t even get paid properly. What was your take on it? Which dodgy firm were you with, who was running the show and all that?

If you think you’ve been scammed or the call seemed dodgy, it’s really important to report it to Action Fraud or the police. Sometimes the Action Fraud website might be down, but don’t give up - keep trying. Each report gives the authorities important info that can help them catch the people behind these calls.
Action Fraud

Sad to say, the Action Fraud site from the police is down right now, so reporting these scam calls isn’t straightforward. Great news for the scammers, obviously. Still, you can report the offence if you log in, though this is generally for when you’ve actually lost cash. Just search 'action fraud' on Google, pick the 'police.uk' link, and head to the 'reporting' area.

They said they were Prestige Equity Release and started talking about equity release, home ownership stuff, and insurance for care home fees - totally sounded like a scam.

Got a call from this number but didn’t pick up as it’s not someone I know, though it has rung before. In our home, if the number’s not familiar, we just let it ring off. Would deffo advise others to do likewise as there’s loads of dodgy people out there. The proper people should handle these nuisance calls, not us.

Honestly, I reckon they should face criminal charges for what they’re doing. Their scams are outright dishonest and the only way to put a stop to it is if they get hit with some serious legal consequences, maybe even some time inside. Maybe being locked up for a while would teach these muppets that most people aren’t going to put up with their rubbish.

Its like these crooks are running outta places to hide, reckon they'll be broke or kicked out pretty quick!

Fishing calls? Seriously, in the middle of a lockdown? How desperate and low do these idiots have to be?

I ignored the call and decided to block it after seeing the reviews.

I received a call from someone claiming to be with the government's nuisance call prevention agency, asking for my bank details to verify my registration. It dawned on me that this was a rather dodgy scam!

Rob Sturgess, Ashley Davis, Stuart Gibson, Ed Plant, Guy Stevens and all the others mixed up in this will defo get caught and face the music for their dodgy actions. These awful people and their team are total scammers, no excuse for what they’ve done.

Extremely impolite and condescending.

That woman totally ripped everyone off and seemed to enjoy it! The scam switches between blocking calls, equity release, and insurance on property. Can’t someone put an end to this con artist already?!

Got a call from a woman claiming she was from a nuisance call blocking service and that she needed to update my details. She gave me a password and asked me to verify it. I told her I had no idea what she was on about and just ended the call. She was really noisy and there was an echo. Definitely sounded like a scam!!

I tried to have a word with my mum but was informed she's been gone for quite some time. So, I told them to bugger off! They've called me a few times since.

If you get these calls, I’d say just drag the convo out as long as you can and try to record it for proof if possible. Otherwise, a good firm "leave me alone" should do the trick.

Someone rang claiming to be from Nuisance Call Blockers. I told them they were the biggest nuisance since the start of the COVID19 times. After I kept saying they were the real nuisance, they just ended the call.

FRAUD Alert: Equity finance or something along those lines.
Don't hesitate to let them know what you think of their antics.
They’re ringing up from a batch of numbers they've procured, insisting you gave them the nod to contact you.
Make sure to add your number to the TPS registry. If those pesky calls keep coming, do it again.
CHARLATANS!

Some lady rang me claiming it was about my call blocking subscription and even gave me a password. I told her straight up that my bank and fraud team warned me never to share my info. I called her out as a scammer. She got all defensive, saying they weren’t fraudsters and offered to give a customer service number for me to verify. I ended the call and looked up the number here - really glad I did. It’s awful how despite everything, there are still people out there trying to con others.

I think it was one of those property equity scams. They knew my name and phone number but got the address wrong, though it was on the same street. When I told them I don’t live at that place, I asked where they got my info from. The guy just said it doesn’t matter if I live there or not and then suddenly cut me off!

She totally conned everyone and seemed to get a kick out of it. Nobody could put a stop to her or her partner Rob Sturgess - not even the fraud prevention folks!

Watch out for this scammer! A woman with a really pleasant voice called me, so believable, and somehow had a password (no idea where she got it from). She claimed we signed up ages ago, which was news to us. Said her name was Stacey from Yes Consumer Solutions. They rang twice; first number didn’t pick up, but the second was definitely Stacey. The numbers were 01273714550 and 03303530243. Proper dodgy. Seriously, don’t fall for it!

I received a rather dubious call today, with someone claiming they were in the process of renewing a subscription related to pesky call alerts. They were fishing for my bank details, which immediately set alarm bells ringing. What made it even creepier was their knowledge of some personal information about my wife, including a password she had used for a different account. It’s rather unsettling, to say the least. I urge everyone to exercise extreme caution and refrain from disclosing any personal info to these individuals. It seems they're actively compiling data for future scam attempts. Stay vigilant!

They ring me at the exact same time pretty much every day, but most of the time there's no one there to talk to. When someone does answer, it's always a different business than the last time they called.

I got a call from a guy with a thick Scottish accent who knew my name and address and claimed something about an upgrade from a chat we supposedly had three years back. My wife, who hears better than me, asked him to say it again. She told him she’s clueless about what he was blabbering on about and that our son handles all that sort of stuff. I just don’t get why he’d bring up something from three years ago out of the blue.

Got totally conned and honestly, I kinda enjoyed it!

Bit suspicious this one. She called and asked if I owned the place, and when I said no, she just went quiet and then the call dropped. Definitely felt like a scam to me.
