I got a call from some dodgy appliance insurance lot, saying I needed to renew cover for a washing machine and freezer I don’t even own. Total scam, don’t fall for it!

It was Domestic General calling. He recognised quite a few things I’d covered and tried to throw in free microwave insurance as a bonus. Then he wanted payment through the card I’d used earlier. I said no way I’m paying on the phone, so he just ended the chat right there.

This same number has called me three times in just one day, claiming my warranty on some appliances has expired. I reckon it might be linked to Domestic & General insurance or at least someone pretending to be. It feels like harassment and could easily be a scam. I've blocked them every time, but they just ring from different numbers that seem to change. Even though the number is supposedly on the TPS list, it doesn't seem to stop the calls. Whenever I try to ask them exactly who they are, they just hang up straight away.

Total rip off! I called to find out the model of my washing machine, but they gave me the wrong info. When I said they were just scammers, they instantly dropped the call. Such a dodgy experience.

I got a call from 01273655185 earlier today, and they claimed it was regarding some insurance linked to our old house. I explained we moved out over five years ago and never had insurance with them. Seems like they’re using our old phone number, which we kept when we moved. Fortunately, our number isn’t in the directory anymore, so they can’t find us that way. They kept pushing quite hard, and in the end, I just ended up hanging up on them.

01273655185 - This number kept ringing my dad who has dementia, and unfortunatly he fell for it. The woman speaking had an odd accent, like she was pretending to be Australian but it came off weird. When my dad asked where she was from, she said Brighton. She tried to sell him some appliance insurance for over £200, saying if we pay today it'd be cheaper. Dad nearly agreed since we already have insurance. It’s so distressing, how do you even block these scammers??

When I asked about this plan, cause I never heard of it, they said it was for my Hotpoint fridge and washing machine. I told them I don’t even own a Hotpoint washer. They said they’d double-check my info and then just ended the call. Bit suspicious if you ask me.

Got a call at around 5 in the afternoon on the 1st of April, 2021. The person on the line said I had somehow been using Freeview through my Sky box. Pretty clever if that was possible, but I don’t even have Sky! As soon as I told them that, they just ended the call.
