Got a call from someone called "Amey" saying they were from Domestic & General Insurance about my washing machine. Turns out, it’s a total scam. I rang up D & G themselves and they told me they had nothing to do with it. Basically, these scammers only have your name and number, then ask if your washing machine is running fine. Most folks do have one, so they offer a "cheap" insurance plan and try to get you to hand over your credit card info and PIN. Watch out for this rubbish!

Someone called saying they were from "Domestic Insurance" and knew all about my home appliances policy with Domestic & General. Spoke with a guy who had a clear Asian accent. When I said I thought he might be trying to scam me, he came back with a pretty convincing reply. But the thing is, I haven’t got any appliances insured with them. Instead of backing down, he started arguing, so I told him I don’t deal with companies like that. He kept going on about it for a bit, then just dropped the call on me.

I told them I wasn’t who they wanted and then they tried to get my number for “updating their files” or something. Not buying it. Blocked straight away. Hopefully they improve their game.

This isn’t the first occasion I’ve received a phone call from this area code, with someone claiming my kitchen appliance insurance needs renewing. I only have cover on one appliance and pay monthly, so their story doesn’t add up. Watch out - they try to push you into paying a big lump sum for a year, or even three years, of ‘protection’, without even knowing what appliances you own. I’m reporting this as a dodgy call.

I received a couple of calls from a gentleman whose accent sounded either Spanish or Italian. He claimed to represent a washing machine policy that my colleague apparently had and was keen on renewing it. He certainly had a way of speaking that was very persuasive and rattled off all the necessary details. When I answered the phone and he requested account information, I decided to investigate the number he was calling from. A quick search led me back to this site, yet the company he mentioned, Services Home Plan, didn't yield any results whatsoever! When I pressed him for more clarity, he rather conveniently stated their website was temporarily down.
