Got a spam call, could hear loads of background noise like a call centre. The person just said hello and then went quiet, so I hung up straight away.

I'm seeing a 40% off deal for renewing my plan with O2 today... but hang on a minute... I don’t even have an account with O2! Where on earth are you getting your information from?

Got a call from some bloke claiming to be from Currys PC World, which honestly doesn’t even exist anymore, so if they had done a tiny bit of research before trying to scam me that’d be great. Unless they’ve secretly opened a store in New Delhi, in which case, sorry Simon, your English was a bit rough but cheers for hanging up eventually hahaha!

Somebody called from "Phone House Company" saying they handle every mobile provider in the UK. Sounds massive but I've never come across them before. I'd definitely avoid them.

Got a call from a woman claiming to be with Carphone Warehouse. She wanted to know what phone I had and how much my contract was. Since I'd just picked up a new phone, I almost believed her. But right after I told her the details, she abruptly ended the call. Bit odd really.

Got a call from someone saying he was Simon from Carphone Warehouse, but he spoke with a really strong Indian accent. He asked me how I was but before I could say much he immediately said "you’ll be better in about two seconds" and then just ended the call. I could hear loads of people chatting in the background like it was a call centre.

Got a call from 01273 655070 the other day, saying they wanted to renew some home appliance insurance. Problem is, I don't even have insurance like that, and they were trying to do it for a place I moved out of more than five years ago. To top it off, they couldn't even get my name right. Sounds like a total scam to me.

So I found out that Premier Protect 365, which is a firm from Manchester, has its directors listed on Companies House. Pretty easy to look up, just so you know.

Like a few others have mentioned, this felt like a scam about extending the warranty on my washer. They only asked for the expiry date on my Visa card. I kept insisting they'd send me something in writing and I’d get back to them that way. When I refused, they ended the call. It’s obvious they have some personal details about me from public sources, but I’m not sure if they already have my card number and just wanted the expiry date, or if this was just the beginning of a phishing attempt. Either way, I've blocked the number now.

Some bloke from abroad called saying my washing machine contract should be cheaper because of the corona virus, but when I asked for specifics, he was clueless about my policy. I told him it sounded like a scam and then the line just cut off.

While I was busy reporting various scam calls to Ofcom, this one hung up just as I was about to pick up. I get loads of dodgy calls every week now, so I can usually tell straight away. They use fake company names on those automated messages, asking you to press 1 to sort things out. Some dodgy ones I’ve heard have been BT Internet (claiming there's some illegal stuff on my broadband), Sky Internet with the same story, and Amazon Prime saying my annual membership is due for renewal.

Got a call off a bloke saying my washing machine's warranty was up for renewal. Seemed dodgy 'cause I've got a 2-year cover and the machine's barely a year old. Told him that, and he just said cheers and ended the call. Total con job if you ask me.

I got a call from an Asian lady trying to sell me a renewal on some home appliance warranty. Thing is, she couldn’t even say which appliances I supposedly owned! When I questioned her about it being a possible scam, she got all defensive and denied it flat out. Quite suspicious if you ask me.

I couldn't get to the phone quick enough, and when I tried ringing back, it just wouldn’t go through. This happened after I'd already contacted the washing machine company since mine needs fixing. Weird situation, honestly!

Got a call from an Asian woman just now, asking for a Mr Abrahams. This number's phoned us loads of times before, always looking for the same guy. We've told them more than once that we don't know anyone by that name. Honestly, every time they mention Abrahams, we just hang up straight away. Don't bother sticking around for a chat.
