Got a call from 01273358560 saying they were Hotpoint and that our insurance had run out. They asked if we wanted to sign up again for £7.99 a month. They even knew my missus’s name and when we last got our machine serviced! Proper little scammer, nearly got me with that one.

I got a call from some bloke called Gavin who was going on about my washing machine cover. He told me my insurance had expired and asked if I wanted to renew it right away. He said I could either pay £7.99 every month by direct debit or just do a one-time payment of £84 for the whole year. When I said I wasn’t interested, he started bluffing that it’d be more expensive if the machine broke down. I told him my husband actually fixes washing machines, so I didn’t need the cover. After that, he just hung up.

I received a call from someone claiming my Indesit washer's warranty was nearing its end, and that I ought to pay for a service plan costing £7.95 a month. Naturally, I was a tad curious, so I inquired about the purchase date of my machine. He fumbled a bit and mentioned it was bought somewhere between 5 to 10 years past. Then, I pressed him on the guarantee duration, to which he responded rather vaguely, saying it varied based on the terms at the time of sale. Ultimately, I chose to pass on the service offer, and he quietly retreated!

I rang the number back and it turned out to be a con, said he was from some service box or something. The bloke on the line started going on about my washing machine instead of what I expected.

Someone called me and said it was about my Bosch washing machine, and oddly enough, they even knew my name. I thought maybe it was a mate from Brighton, so I picked up just in case it was a work number. But I told the bloke I wasn’t sure exactly which washing machine I had, so how could he know? I didn’t mention that I actually got mine second-hand and it’s probably about 20 years old - not exactly common knowledge! Honestly, these scammers need to be stopped, the government really should step in and deal with these nonstop nuisance calls.

I received a call regarding the "renewal" of my washing machine's service cover. What struck me as odd was that the caller had my last name but dialled my mobile, which is a number that’s kept private. It leads me to believe this could be a scam of sorts, considering nobody else should have that number.
