DON'T TRUST ANY COMMENTS CLAIMING THIS NUMBER IS LEGIT. I rang American Express myself and they confirmed this number isn't theirs. Yes, it shares their area code, but that doesn't mean a thing. If you see people here saying it's a genuine call, be careful - those could easily be scammers trying to fool you. Also, don’t bother calling the number back to verify; they’ll just pretend it’s authentic. Instead, use the contact number on the back of your Amex card to be safe.

They've rung me a couple of times now. Tried to get me to give personal info as some sort of security check. I said no first time and they claimed they'd send an email - surprise, no email came through. Then they called again, asking the same personal stuff which I’m not sharing with strangers on an unexpected call. When I asked what it was about, they said they couldn't tell me without me answering their questions. Once more, they promised an email - nothing again. If this is genuine Amex customer service, their procedures seriously need reviewing - but honestly, I doubt it is.

He told me someone had put in an application for an Amex card using my name but at a different address, mentioning my current place as an old one. Hey everyone, just to let you know, this was an authentic call from AMEX customer support. However, if you want to be on the safe side, I’d recommend telling them you’ll ring their customer service back to sort things out. Without a doubt, this is a shady spammer/scammer/tricky seller. They've rung me a couple of times, leaving voicemails about a supposed new "account manager" being assigned to me. I then phoned Amex from another number to verify properly, making sure no chance of any fraud. Amex confirmed the story was bogus, saying I’m not important enough to get an account manager. It’s pretty frustrating that Amex didn't bother to note it down or try to help... their response was quite rubbish, honestly.

I don’t know the full background of this number, but when it rang me, it was Amex calling. I’d recently applied for an Amex card, and they got in touch on my work phone (which isn’t widely shared), asking to confirm my identity. They asked the usual security questions I’ve answered from Amex in the past. To be sure, I dialled the number listed on my application (0800 032 7404) and spoke to someone who confirmed they had just contacted me about 10 minutes earlier for ID verification. So, in my experience, it’s a legit Amex number. That said, from what others have mentioned, it looks like they might also use this line for marketing calls - at least now you know it’s a proper Amex contact.

Got a call supposedly from 'AMEX'. Funny enough, I’d just sent them a letter complaining about how my overdraft was handled, so naturally, I thought this call was about that. I asked the bloke if that was the case, but he said it was too confidential to discuss. The guy, calling himself YOMAS, wanted me to answer some security questions. I told him I couldn’t do that unless I was sure he was legit. He then asked me to ring 04460462, but I haven’t bothered. His voice was a bit shaky and didn’t sound very trustworthy at all.

Got a call on my phone from some bloke who wanted me to ring 0800 3280712 and give them a reference number. When I phoned that 0800 number, it was all automated and asked for your card details, which seemed dodgy as hell. I don’t even have an Amex so I couldn’t go any further and then it just put me back through to the same guy. Feels really shady to me - under no circumstances should you enter your card info! If you’ve got any worries, better to get in touch with your bank yourself.

Got a call from someone saying they were with American Express, pushing their card offers. Thing is, I’m already a customer with a few accounts there. If this caller doesn’t know that, I’d seriously think twice before sharing any personal details.

Got a call from someone saying they were with American Express, but the number showed up as Brighton. Quite odd!
