The bloke said his name was Brandon and pretended to be calling from a Brighton number, but I could tell it was fake after I checked with 1471. He said he was from Virgin Media’s Security Team and wanted me to install some kind of software to protect my internet from hackers and fraudsters. He claimed to be calling from their Head Office at 81c New Gibb St, London, but was definitely using a Brighton area code. He insisted he was in the office and not working from home, even though we were still in lockdown at the time. His accent made me think he was from India or Pakistan. He refused to give me a callback number or even answer a simple question about the weather.
