I received a call from someone who introduced himself as Brandon, claiming to be reaching out from a number in Brighton, although it was evidently a spoofed line (I checked the caller ID afterwards). He insisted he was representing the Virgin Media Security Department and urged me to install some security software to safeguard my Internet account from hackers and money laundering activities. He mentioned he was phoning from their Head Office located at 81c New Gibb Street in London, yet he was using a Brighton area code. He insisted he was working from the office and not from home, despite the ongoing lockdown situation. His accent suggested he was from either India or Pakistan. Quite notably, he wouldn’t provide a contact number for me to ring him back and couldn’t even tell me what the weather was like!
