Back in March I got a three-year warranty for my washing machine. Now it’s broken down and when I tried to call them, it kept saying the person I’m trying to reach isn’t available. I also sent an email but it bounced back every time. Feels like a total con to me.

Had a bloke called Gavin Thompson ring me up about some washing machine insurance deal, saying it was cheaper than usual. He kept pushing for my debit or credit card info to sort the payment. Every time I paused, he dropped the price or threw in "a free year!" When I told him I’d call back later, he just hung up on me suddenly. Definitely not ringing back to sort anything with him!

Got a call promoting some warranty for my washing machine out of the blue. Could be a legit firm (something like www.altusdirect.co.uk), but honestly, ringing up pensioners to push services they didn’t ask for feels just as dodgy as proper con artists.

I fell for their gentle talk and ended up paying with my credit card. They promised paperwork would show up within 3-5 days, but after ten days I got suspicious. I rang them to cancel, well within the 14-day cooling-off period, only to be told refunds are done via BACS transfer and they needed my bank info. When I refused to share it, the bloke snapped, saying 'don’t argue with me,’ and then just hung up on me! I’ve now passed the matter onto my credit card company.

My mum got a phone call from these lot and ended up signing up for a 3-year protection plan. When she never got the documents through the post, she contacted her bank. The bank investigated and reckoned the firm seemed legit and promised to give her money back. Trouble is, the company promised to ring her but never did. Feels like it might be a dodgy scam, which could be risky.

Today I got a ring from this firm about some washing machine insurance. The chap said he could lower what I pay if I sorted the full amount straight away. I told him I wasn't comfortable sharing my bank info on the phone, and he suddenly seemed quite annoyed. He called himself Richard Lancaster and seemed polite enough at the start.

Got a call from this firm earlier today, saying my washing machine warranty was nearly up. The lady on the phone knew my name and where I live, but then tried to get my card info.

I told her to send me the details by email instead. They did send something, but it didn’t seem very trustworthy so I decided to check the number out online. Thinking I’ll block it soon.

So yesterday I got a call on my home phone from some firm named Domestic Home Care, they tried to convince me to buy insurance for my washing machine. They also dropped this number for an engineer’s service. I haven’t dialled it since I figured the initial call was dodgy, but I’m curious if anyone else has had anything to do with this number?

Got a call earlier from someone saying my contract needed renewing. They offered me a discount but then asked for my card info straight away. I told them no way, I don’t know who they are. The bloke said he was being honest and it was all safe and secure. I asked for his phone number so I could look into it properly and promised I'd call back. He gave me the name Gabriel Murphy. Got a call regarding a washing machine warranty, sounded quite legit. They mentioned both mine and my hubby’s names. Tried to get me to verify my card info. Claimed we’d had the policy for a year and the payments were lower since we hadn’t made any claims. I just kept them on the phone, didn’t give out any info, and honestly just wasted their time.
