I got a call about a discount for renewing my washing machine's extended warranty, which I don't even have. When I asked for details, they passed me to another person who said his name was Peter Gallagher from a company called Premier Protect, claiming it's linked to Domestic & General Insurance. Then he started pushing for my credit card info, saying it was needed to prove I wasn't a rogue carer or something. I said no, of course, and he just hung up on me. Honestly, feels really dodgy and quite worrying!

I’ve got phone calls like these a few times now, and they never seem to listen, just keep ringing hoping you’ll eventually spill some personal stuff just to shut them up (we Brits tend to avoid being harsh). What works for me is breaking their usual spiel by being a bit cheeky and blunt back at them - usually they hang up or I do. Still, it doesn’t stop them popping up again after a few weeks or even months!

Got a call from someone trying to sell me an extended warranty for my washing machine. When I asked him to specify which machine exactly, he admitted he didn’t know the brand or model! Said all he knew was there was a washing machine at this address - well, that’s true of nearly every home, isn’t it? I pressed him again about which machine he meant, and when I told him we had more than one, he just shrugged and said something like, ‘well, the oldest one then’. Told him to take my details off their list, but I doubt it’ll stop the calls!

Got a call from someone claiming to be from a warranty company about extending my washing machine’s cover. They actually used my name, which threw me off a bit. They said they were about to send some info before the guarantee ran out and asked me to confirm if the machine was still working and the address they had was right. I didn’t confirm either. When I asked them about the brand or purchase date, they couldn’t answer. The call ended after they got my name and tried to get the address, which seemed like a setup to ask for card info later on to charge me. Definitely felt like a scam.

Got a call looking for my son, who hasn’t lived here for ages. They didn’t say who they were or even leave a message with me.
