Honestly, feels really dodgy and quite worrying!

I’ve got phone calls like these a few times now, and they never seem to listen, just keep ringing hoping you’ll eventually spill some personal stuff just to shut them up (we Brits tend to avoid being harsh). What works for me is breaking their usual spiel by being a bit cheeky and blunt back at them - usually they hang up or I do. Got a call from someone trying to sell me an extended warranty for my washing machine. When I asked him to specify which machine exactly, he admitted he didn’t know the brand or model! Said all he knew was there was a washing machine at this address - well, that’s true of nearly every home, isn’t it? I pressed him again about which machine he meant, and when I told him we had more than one, he just shrugged and said something like, ‘well, the oldest one then’. Got a call from someone claiming to be from a warranty company about extending my washing machine’s cover. They actually used my name, which threw me off a bit.
