If you get a call from Greenpeace it's prob because you signed up for their mailing list ages ago. Calling back usually gets you an answerphone explaining who they are, and you can choose to get taken off their calls. I reckon for groups like them, it's nicer to ask to be removed instead of just blocking the number. Those dodgy cold callers though, they're another story!

GET YOUR NUMBER OFF their database:- When you ring back this number, there’s an automated message and at the end it says 'If you want to stop us calling you, press 1 now.' I did that, waited a bit, then it said my number will be taken off their list within 48 hours. I do support them, but don’t want to keep getting calls asking for more money than I already donate.

I signed a Greenpeace petition and then asked to unsubscribe from their emails. Since then, they’ve been calling me loads, mostly when I’m busy or not keen to be disturbed. Fingers crossed they’ll stop soon. I don’t pick up anymore as I’ve got their number saved for later. My old phone can't handle remembering all these numbers!

This is the second occasion I've received a call from these folks, and even though I’ve had the number blocked, it still went straight to my voicemail. You could distinctly make out the chatter of a call centre in the background, followed by nearly a minute of just someone heavy breathing on the line. Quite unnerving, really!

Yeah, it’s Greenpeace alright, they’re just looking for some backing and probs grabbed your info cause you’ve supported before. When you chat with them you can tell them how you want them to get in touch or say you’d rather not. Really nice people to talk with, was actually quite pleasant.
