He then proceeded to pitch a free add-on policy associated with Golden Carters. In a rather enticing manner, he mentioned that taking this up would result in an additional £300 being added to my current policy and that upon my passing, the funds would be directly allocated to a local funeral director. I requested a brochure for more information, but to my surprise, he stated they could only send it if I agreed to sign up. I made it very clear that I wouldn’t commit without first perusing the terms and conditions. This led to quite a standoff! The chap mentioned his name was Ben and that he was working from his kitchen table.
