The call came from Brighton, number 01273 004984. They claimed I’d been a customer “for years” and that my policy “had just expired” and needed renewing. I only gave them the make of a few appliances, which were mostly made up on the spot. There were two people on the call, a man and a woman, but the connection was poor so I couldn’t catch their names. Their spiel included needing my bank details to send out renewal papers. They insisted they’d been taking payments for a policy I don’t even have, but conveniently they didn’t have my bank info. I kept asking how they could have taken payment without my details, but they just repeated their sales pitch and said no money would leave my account for two weeks.
