Got a call from someone pushing "appliance insurance", sounded like a scam to me. I told him my stuff was all breaking down and making weird sounds, but he just kept going and asked for more info. So, I decided to give him an example and actually blew a whistle right into the phone. That seemed to shut him up pretty quick!

I recently received a rather dodgy call from someone speaking with a South African twang. They were trying to pull me in with an enticing deal - three years for the price of two, plus a whopping 40% discount. What raised a huge red flag for me was how much this bloke knew about my personal details, including our names, address, and even our joint bank account. I can’t help but suspect this could be linked to some sort of data breach with our insurance provider. It’s rather concerning, to say the least!

I got a call saying they were from home care then switched to domestic insurance, bit confusing. When my partner said he’d just heard from British Gas, I rang them up and they said it wasn’t them and it was likely a scam. The caller got quite annoyed when I asked questions and told me to ring British Gas if I doubted them. Watch out for calls like this!

some woman rang up sayin she’s from domestic & general saying my appliance policy needed renewing. problem is, i don’t even have one! she then started saying my address but it was totally old, like 14 years ago. then she just brushed it off sayin it was ok even if the address was wrong as long as my stuff was still workin fine! ridiculous!

Got a call from a number I didn't recognise on my home phone, but they just hung up as soon as the answerphone kicked in. The call seemed to come from Brighton or somewhere near there, but I don't know anyone in that area who'd ring me. I've jotted the number down just in case they try again. Scam alert! They somehow got hold of my name and address, and then attempted to con me into parting with cash for a bogus insurance policy on household appliances. Absolutely outrageous!

However, I don't possess any warranties whatsoever, which immediately raised my suspicions. It definitely feels like a con, especially since they managed to obtain my name and address.

They attempted to convince me to fork out nearly £500 for a supposed insurance policy covering my cooker, fridge, and freezer. It all felt highly suspicious and seems like a scam to me!

I’ve been bombarded with calls over the last couple of days from various numbers that seem quite similar. The chap on the other end insisted that I had an insurance policy for my household appliances with them for the last three years and that it was due for renewal. He attempted to lure me in with an offer of three years of coverage for the price of two, amounting to £395. To add to the oddity, he had the name of my bank and even tried to confirm his legitimacy by providing the initial digit of my bank’s sort code. When I inquired about my current policy number, he claimed he could provide the new policy number that would commence right away, but surprisingly didn’t have the number for my existing one. He was rather persistent and didn’t seem inclined to accept my refusal.

Received a call saying they were from Domestic Appliances, trying to inform me that my policy was nearing its end. The thing is, I have a policy, but it’s with Domestic and General, not them! It's shocking how many folks might unwittingly fall for this and end up signing up, all the while thinking they’re talking to D&G. This was actually my second call today - the first one came from Sky Maintenance, and the approach they used was eerily similar. Sure, I’ve got coverage for my Sky gear, but it’s through Sky Protect! You really have to stay alert these days!
