I told them to ring me back, and they did, but from a different number, 01269333026. They ended up tricking me and placed two orders for iPhones on my account, even changed the delivery address to Rebecca Street in Manchester without my permission. I’ve now updated all my details, including my bank info, to be safe. Also reported it to Action Fraud. Be careful and don’t pick up if you get calls like this.

I picked up the phone expecting some sort of scam call, but the bloke on the other end claimed he was calling from Virgin Media. I decided to listen anyway. He was saying something about my internet being hacked and someone else using it, which was why it was running so slowly. This number is linked to a business from Ruthin, North Wales, who told me straight up that they just hand out phone numbers to pretty much anyone without looking into what those companies actually do. The firm’s name is Net-Work Internet Ltd, and the number they gave out is 0330 220 2280. If you’re affected, I’d say ring them pretending to be a customer, then raise a complaint about their lack of proper checks on who they give numbers to.
