I got a call from 01269219432 and the bloke was mumbling some company name I couldn’t catch. He wanted to know if I was having issues with a card reader or even using one. I told him no, he’d got the wrong person. Then he asked if this was a beauty salon, and I explained it was just a private home. After that, he said sorry and ended the call. Quite a confusing one!

I received a call from someone claiming to be Virgin Media about problems with my router, then about 50 minutes later a different number called saying the same thing. As soon as I said I wouldn’t share any personal details, they just hung up. Definitely felt dodgy to me.

I received a call from this number on the afternoon of Thursday, 13th January 2022, precisely at 12:40. On the other end was a gentleman with a thick Indian accent, who mentioned something that resembled a pornographic establishment before veering off into a conversation about a mobile phone provider, which raised all sorts of alarms for me. I was quite taken aback and promptly inquired about his identity and how he had come across my number. I repeated my question a couple of times, only for him to abruptly end the call. As soon as he hung up, I made sure to block the number straight away!

So, it turns out I made a rather peculiar purchase last night (12th January) for an iPhone, supposedly through an Amazon account that’s registered under the name Vicky Hickey-definitely not my name! The caller, claiming to be from Amazon, seemed convinced it was a fraudulent transaction. They insisted I retrieve my mobile or laptop so they could log into my account and supposedly sort out this 'fraudulent' activity. Really? I had my doubts! When I queried the man on the other end, who spoke with a rather thick foreign accent, he introduced himself as Ben Johnston. In hindsight, I wish I'd asked whether he was speedy on his feet too!
