I got a call from this number earlier, and the man claimed he was from NatWest. He mentioned some of my personal info including part of my debit card details, saying there’d been a suspicious transaction request somewhere else in the UK. He asked me loads of questions - how many accounts I have, my balances, when I last logged into online banking. When I asked for a callback number, he got really annoyed and tried to push me to speak to a “manager,” warning that scammers might take out loans up to £25,000 in my name immediately. He also said if I went directly to NatWest, I'd have to wait an hour and a half, during which time the fake loans could be approved. That made me suspicious, so I just hung up. He did know the last 4 digits of my debit card and my home address, and kept insisting the call was recorded. If you’re unsure, just hang up and ring NatWest yourself - I got through in a couple of minutes and they’re sending me a replacement card now.

On the 25th March 2022, I got a call on my landline from a guy with a strong African accent. He claimed to be from the Nationwide fraud department. I didn’t trust him at all, so I just ended the call straight away.

Someone pretending to be from NatWest called me saying there was some dodgy activity on my phone banking. They already knew part of my postcode and asked me to fill in the rest to “verify” who I was - obviously just trying to get more details if I’d gone along with it. They said if I didn’t do the security check on the phone, I’d have to visit a branch with photo ID (yeah right). I called them out on it and they quickly got angry and started being rude. Honestly, these scammers are ridiculous - my advice: just ignore calls from numbers you don’t know.

Got a call from this number, someone claiming there was suspicious activity on my account. They asked me to verify my customer ID by giving my date of birth first. I told them I wasn’t comfortable sharing that info. Then they tried to check my card details, quoting a number starting with 4751 30. Back in October 2021, I got caught out by some scammers pretending to be from NatWest. They were so believable it was scary, even managed to tap into my phone line to keep up the trick. When I went into my local branch, they confirmed it was indeed a scam. I called 159 to report it, and they warned me that the scammers might next pose as police officers. When I checked the number they used on another site, I found this notice: natwest-logo ✅ The number 01268 508018 really belongs to NatWest, but scammers can make it look like it’s coming from them on your phone - this is called ‘spoofing’. So, if someone from this number contacts you, they should already know personal details about you and your NatWest account. I think this must be a scam number. NatWest told me it's best to be careful if you get calls you're unsure about. They said to ask the caller to put their reason for calling on answerphone and then you ring NatWest directly to check everything. Definitely follow that advice!
