The most recent time, I got a recorded message from someone claiming to be Stanley Finance saying their office was closed and they'd ring me again unless I told them not to. They said if I wanted to be removed from their call list, I should call back on a really long number full of zeros and ones that I couldn't possibly note down. I’m starting to suspect it could be some kind of premium rate number.

Received a call from some bloke named John, insisting I set up a direct debit for a different gas and electric provider because of the new price cap rules. Told him no thanks - felt like a total scam.

Got a call from some energy company trying to persuade me to switch my supplier. The guy on the line was pretty smooth with his sales pitch. I barely had time to think before he was asking me when I wanted the direct debit to start. As soon as I said I needed to check with my husband first, he definitely changed his tone. Not rude or anything, but he kept pressing why I couldn’t decide alone. Sure, I could decide, but an £8 monthly saving wasn’t worth the bother for me. He even suggested I just go ahead and cancel later if my husband didn’t like their ‘offer’. I told him no thanks!

Got another random cold call today, ringing at 12:49 in the afternoon. There was a long pause when I answered, which gave away it was a sales call. I just waited for someone to say something, and as soon as they did, I hung up. No clue who was behind it, but definitely not someone I’m interested in chatting with. These annoying cold calls come through multiple times a day, every single day. So frustrating!
