I received a call from 01259797393, and I suspect it's a scam. They disguise themselves as various companies to try and fool unsuspecting victims. Beware!

I got a ring from this number on the 6th of October, 2022, just after three in the afternoon. They claimed to be from O2, offering me a staggering 40% off my bill. They mentioned I'd receive two text messages: one warning me about security issues, followed by another containing a 6-digit code. Initially, I thought it might be legitimate and, foolishly, I shared my code after a bit of doubt. However, when they started asking for my address-claiming they wanted to send me a prize hamper with an iPad-I realised something was amiss. I told them to ring back since I had to dash off. Immediately after, I contacted O2 through 202, and they assured me it was indeed a SCAM. Whatever you do, never disclose your 6-digit code, regardless of the circumstances!

Greetings! I received a call today, the 13th of November, from a number claiming to be related to housing repairs dated the 6th of October, 2022. When I inquired about their name not once but twice, abruptly, the line went dead. Quite peculiar, isn’t it?

Got a call again from some random number I didn’t know and suspected it was one of those scam calls, so I just let it ring out. This one showed up as coming from Alloa in Scotland. Didn’t get any voicemail either, which basically confirmed my suspicions. I’ve gone ahead and blocked that number plus six other dodgy calls I’ve had over the past week from unknown numbers!

Every so often, maybe once or twice a week, these callers pop up. They’ve got a South Asian accent and pretend to be from different phone providers, trying to convince you that you’ve landed a half-price deal on your contract or can get a brand new iPhone for barely anything each month. I usually play along, asking loads of questions just to waste their time, but they usually drop the call after I throw the sixth or seventh question their way. Makes my day a bit more entertaining lol.

The call came from a female with an Asian accent, which made me hang up straight away. I couldn’t quite catch what she was saying, but I only pick up if I’m expecting something important, so I just didn’t bother with this one.

I’ve never heard of anyone from Alloa, Scotland so I just ignored the call. Looked up the number here afterwards and it’s pretty clear it’s some sort of scam. I normally don’t answer calls from unknown numbers or ones I’m not expecting. Bit frustrating they got hold of my number through some database since I’m really careful about giving it out only when necessary.

I picked up the phone but didn’t say a word. The person on the other end was silent too, just quiet for around 10 seconds before hanging up. There wasn’t any background noise like you usually get with those scam calls, but it was obviously some kind of spam or scam.

Received a call from someone claiming to be from O2, offering some sort of discount. When I expressed my lack of interest, he became quite curt, questioning why I was wasting his precious time-rather odd since he was the one who initiated the call! To make matters worse, I started getting text messages from O2 too. Quite suspicious, I must say; could it be that O2 is peddling their customers' information? I've since blocked the number; it definitely felt like a scam to me.
