He hung up rather abruptly, and shortly after, I was plagued by an automated message informing me of a supposed fault and instructing me to press 1 to sort it out. Naturally, I hung up again. It's high time the Indian authorities shut down these scam operations and held the perpetrators accountable, but I suspect that won’t happen anytime soon. It's quite baffling, isn’t it?5 yearsJust shortly after an Openreach technician sorted out my internet speed issues, I got a call from a woman with an Indian accent. Oddly enough, the engineer hadn’t even left yet; he was still parked outside! She insisted that I needed to upgrade my laptop and log onto a website she mentioned. I wasn’t having any of it, so I pushed back, but she just kept on with her spiel. When I offered to let her chat with the engineer, she dodged the idea completely. It could well have been a coincidence, but it felt all a bit off, so we ended the conversation quickly.5 yearsReceived a call at half past seven in the morning from a private number claiming to be from BT.
