Had a right rude bloke on the phone claiming he was from BT. Said I needed to visit a site to check if my IP was safe. I told him I’d just log into my BT account instead, but he got even nastier. When I acted like I was typing in the address he gave and told him it came up as private, he called me a liar and started swearing. Told him he was acting unprofessional for BT and I’d report him, then he just hung up. Seriously, steer well clear of this scam!

Got a call from this number, bloke said he was with British Gas but had a proper strong Indian accent. When I asked where in the UK he was calling from, he said 'Nottinghamshire' but butchered the pronunciation big time. I reckoned he was actually ringing from some dodgy call centre in India. Told him if he wanted to pass as local, he’d need to work on his accent because it was all wrong. Then he went off on one and told me to 'go f@ck yourself, Ma'am'. Had a chuckle, then just ended the call and blocked the number straight away.

So on Friday I got a phone call from someone who said they were from EON and wanted to send over some renewal papers for our electricity, but I told them no. They obviously had info from Companies House or something. Then this morning, the same number rang back but the caller said they were with Scottish Power this time, still trying to get us to agree to some renewal docs. Of course, I turned them down again. Somebody rang me pretending to be from EON Next and they had some info that you can actually find online at Companies House. I stupidly gave them a few bits like my name, job title, email and work address but never handed over anything sensitive like bank info. When I rang EON Next myself, they reckoned it was just a sneaky try to gather info to flog to other firms. So now I’m bracing myself for a load of spam emails!
