I’m going through the exact same thing, it’s honestly so frustrating, especially with that gnawing fear it might be someone in my family needing help. These cold callers are now using phone numbers that look like they’re from your own area, which feels like the new trick. Honestly, the real blame lies with the company that originally gave out our numbers in the first place!

I was proper annoyed when I picked up this call on my mobile because it showed a local number. Even though I didn’t recognise it, I thought it might be serious - maybe someone in the family had an emergency! When I answered, I could hear loads of laughter in the background and a woman who was laughing like mad. Once she stopped, I said hello and then she just hung up on me! The accent was definitely Southern English, which is weird since I’m in Central Scotland. This isn’t the first time I’ve gotten cold calls from local numbers and I’m well pissed off about it. I’m definitely reporting it. I’ve blocked all the other local numbers that have rang before and will do the same here, but I bet whoever’s behind this has loads more of these local numbers to use. Anyway, rant over!
