I got a call from the number 01256693589 claiming to be from BT, offering an extra 33% off my broadband and phone bill. The caller was a woman with a Caribbean accent, but there was a lot of static and crackling in the background. It felt dodgy from the start. I know BT usually contacts me through email or official letters, never out of the blue on the phone like that. I played along a bit just to see what would happen. She asked me to confirm my postcode, and when I said it was different, she asked again saying she needed it for paperwork. I told her no, and reminded her that they already have my info on file and it wasn’t wise to give personal details over the phone. After that, I hung up and put the number in my CPR CALLBLOCKER device, so that scammer won’t get through to me again.

Got a call from some bloke with a weird accent. He chuckled when I mentioned I don’t have a BT landline. Tried to sell me a discount. I said again, no BT landline here. He had another laugh. Seriously, no BT landline at all. Ended the call and blocked that cheeky tosser.
